Benefit Lemon Aid - any good?

I'm sick of wasting spending money on products that just don't work.

I've got Benefit's High Beam, but any illuminator just seems to highlight pores, and spots, and my less than refined skin.

I have dark circles (all around my eyes it looks like I've been punched), and they are slightly puffy, so any highlighting concealer doesn't work (I've got a Loreal one, a Bourjois one, a Collection 2000 one - they're all rubbish)

I used to use a yellow cream & powder, by Boots 17, for under eyes, and it worked wonders, but they no longer do it.

I really want to try Lemon Aid, not only as a primer, but for undereyes too (I know that it's not designed for that), but before parting with cash, I wondered if anyone else had tried it?

i love benefit.

i use their entire skin care range. I also use their eye cream (eyecon) and mix it with their under eye concealer stuff (erasepaste) I find it too thick on it's own, but magical when thinned out.

i used to have terrible under eyes beforenow i feel like they've improved quite dramaticallysoo much so that I don't have to wear much makeup unless I'm going somewhere fancy and I still get complimented on my skin.

lemonaid is truly awful on me.

I love benefit normally. But yeegods. Not this one.

MrsBovary · 22/04/2012 21:37

I found it quite drying.

smallmole · 22/04/2012 22:05

I like it! I only use it on my eyelids but I do use it every day (three under 5's - I can't remember the last time I had an undisturbed night!) and it definitely works for me. Maybe you could buy one off ebay to see how you go?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/04/2012 23:37

I like it close to the upper and lower lash lines, neutralises redness, I was shown how to do it at the Benefit counter but never tried using it on under eye circles. Why not go along and ask them to try it on you?

mamalovesmojitos · 23/04/2012 00:00

I use essence eyeshadow base for the same effect. Its really cheap. Mixed reviews on make-up alley but i love it. I use it more as a concealer than a primer- it's very matte.

lololizzy · 23/04/2012 00:32

HORRENDOUS! greasy, doesn't stay put, creasey....arghhhhh!

CuttedUpPear · 23/04/2012 01:24

It's fine on my slightly oily skin for dark under eye circles. I use it often.

monkeysmama · 23/04/2012 12:08

I use it on my eyelids brighten my face up. I dislike most Benefit I've tried but always have this with me.

lizardqueenie · 23/04/2012 16:30

Sorry but another one who doesn't like it. I did like it until I saw myself in a photo & I looked like I had reverse panda eyes! The light reflective ingredients was obviously their most reflective with the camera flashGrin

WhyAlwaysBoris · 23/04/2012 16:31

slides straight off me, for some reason.

aerynsun · 23/04/2012 17:50

I love it, but I don't think it's for under your eyes, just the lids. Gossmakeupartist on YouTube has a really good tutorial on hiding dark circles - I found this helped me make better use of concealers I already had irrelevant of the brand.

Lemon Aid gave me eczema on my eyelids which was not really an attractive look...

Seaweed - I don't believe it ! Lemon Aid gave me eczema on my eyelids too. I still haven't got rid of it and its really unsightly. How did you get rid of your eczema?? I've tried loads of creams but nothing has worked so far.

SeaweedNK · 23/04/2012 20:54

Hi floramckitchen I eventually was advised by GP to use a very sparing amount of hydrocortisone cream on them before bed for a few days only. This reduced the angry reaction and I then switched to using a really bland eye gel/cream from Avene (Boots stock this) morning and evening. It took a long time to get my eyelids back to normal though!

Tamisara · 23/04/2012 23:27

Thank you for your replies. I feel a bit Blush as I decided (on an impulse whim, whilst on Boots website) to buy it. I will report back after I've tried it

I find it great when used sparingly!

For pore coverage Watts Up! is truly fantastic and hides my acne scarring better than most foundations :)
