Yes or No- Cape

For autumn /winter.
I saw a black & grey cape (reduced) .
Just wondered how comfy they are? It's got 3/4 length sleeves and 'freesize'.

I'm 5'5" ans 14 top 12 bottom so average height and size.

I'd keep it in the wardrobe and pull it out when I was going somewhere nice or maybe if I wanted to wear with boots and skinny jeans.

I go by the theory that my clothes don't go out of fashion because they were never in fashion.
Would I look like one of the SuperNannies? (I wouldn't wear the hat) Grin

Hmm. Now, I nearly bought a Zara cape from a charity shop, sort of tweedy. I swanned around the shop in it, then caught sight of myself and all I needed for the full Sherlock look was a deerstalker and pipe

They can look okay...but you're a little petite?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2012 15:56

I could whack on a pair of heels if needed.

Petite- I like that. Grin

It might be useful for just chucking o'er stuff....

jalopy · 22/04/2012 16:32

Only if you have a bike.

mirpuppet · 22/04/2012 17:53

Not quite right -- that's why I often see capes on sales racks.

cocolepew · 22/04/2012 17:54

Only if you're a super hero.

Collision · 22/04/2012 17:54

Other people seem to look great in them.

I see them wearing them with jeans and boots and I think I would love a cape.

But.........Sherlocky!! puts me right off.

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 17:56

They are hassly with carrying a bag though you have to poke your hands through I do like them and have a couple

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/04/2012 18:02

I think that if you're bigger on top, you'd be likely to look quite 'top heavy' in a cape with skinnies.

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 18:05

I am quite busty and wear them with skinnies tbh they are quite flattering if they are cut well. But with your hands in front clutching a bag you do look mad!

BackforGood · 22/04/2012 18:06

I too saw someone in a cape the other day, and had to hold back from asking her where her deerstalker was.

IMVHO, it's not a look to be taken seriously.

winefairy · 22/04/2012 19:18

Love capes but they have to be a fairly good quality to drape well and look good. I convince myself I look less comedic, more timeless and interesting but agree with noddy that they cause all kinds of handbag problems.

Where was your cape from? Linky?
