I am an XL Blush

DonInKillerHeels · 21/04/2012 16:48

I thought that was a very strange way of asking "am I immoral" and had to look at it for at least a minute before I got what you were on about.

XL is about a size 12 as far as I can work out. Zara's sizing is ridiculously small and makes everyone who isn't anorexic or taller than 4'11" feel like an elephant.

bigTillyMint · 21/04/2012 16:51

I agree, Zara is for midgets - I too am an XL in thereAngry!

southeastastra · 21/04/2012 16:54

i tried some trousers on there the other day, large was too small x large was too big Grin

jumpinghoops · 21/04/2012 17:06

I am a M in there trousers (usually) and a size 10-12.

notyummy · 21/04/2012 17:29

A medium is a small 12/large 10 in Zara IMO. I take a medium and I am a 10 in most places on the High Street now, but my bottom/hips sometimes make me nearer a 12. I would probably err towards a L from what you say. And yes, if you are tall some of the stuff is tricky - the length is ok, but the proportions, waist bands etc on dresses are often wrong. Waist line ends up around my ribs and I look like I am trying to wear stuff I have grown out of.

BusinessTrills · 21/04/2012 17:31

We don't know what size you are - you haven't given us any information.

Go try some on.

Or measure yourself and look at their size guide.

NewMatic · 21/04/2012 19:36

I'm a 10 gap 12 marks 12 next. Etc

notyummy · 21/04/2012 19:46

If you are 12 Marks then I suspect a L in Zara tbh.

BellaVita · 21/04/2012 19:47

I am a size 10 and a midget!!!

Their s is a tiny bit too tight and their m is far too bloody big.

PerryCombover · 21/04/2012 19:51

I'm a large in Zara (bastards)

anniewoo · 21/04/2012 19:53

Bloody Zara full stop !!! Lovely clothes- crap sizing Sad

BusinessTrills · 22/04/2012 19:51

IF the clothes are lovely then it shouldn't matter what size you are.

You just learn what size you are (even if it is size DHL) and buy the "lovely clothes" in that size.

anniewoo · 23/04/2012 19:58

Sometimes they don't fit!! Even the xl ...and i'm not xl , truly i'm not!!! Am I?

lurkingaround · 23/04/2012 22:59

anniewoo you are right. Sometimes they just don't fit. Took what I smugly thought would be miles too big but v comfy jeans in XL into the changing rooms to try on. (I'm a pretty average 12 in most shops). Granted they were skinnies and I'm a bit of a pear, but SWEET DIVINE, I couldn't get them off quick enough. They were stuck to me. Struggled to get them past mid-thigh. Haven't tried on a pair since. That'll teach Zara. Missing out on my vast purchasing power.[hmmmph]

notyummy · 24/04/2012 08:29

I think it is European sizing as they are a Spanish firm, and sadly as a nation we are on average 'bigger' than our European equivalents. I also think it is the contrast with the rampant vanity sizing that goes on across most of the High Street. I used to be a 12-14 (10 years ago.) Now I have a lost a bit of weight and toned up a bit over the past 3/4 years, but not enough to lose 2 whole dress sizes....but that apparently is the case, as I am 10 pretty much everywhere. (10 sometimes a bit big in Gap and M & S - serial vanity sizing offenders IMO.) I still have clothes that I have had for years where the a 12 is pretty snug on me (including my 'weight barometer' jeans from 1993 that I have kept for the specific purpose of charting my size) so the sizing is definitely changing.

supernannyisace · 24/04/2012 11:51

the only thing I have ever bought from Zara is a cropped cardigan. I had to ask the assistant what size - I said I wanted a 12/14 - so she said try a L. It fits - but luckily it is stretchy! If ihad to get jeans I don't imagine I would get into even their XL.

supernannyisace · 24/04/2012 11:53

and FFS - just peeked the link to the sizing guide- why is it in cm? Grrr... I have to get my calc on now to work out my dimensions...
