Anyone had Calgel nails done?

Booked in for pre-holiday Calgel finger and toenail treatment tomorrow. I have rubbish, weak, short, bendy nails but don't want fakey nails, just want a pretty colour that lasts and doesn't chip. Will I be a Calgel convert?

Is it like Shellac? If so I had it done for a holiday recently and am definitely converted...my own nails but looking freshly manicured and fabulous! Honestly every time I looked at my hands I was surprised by their gorgeousness, and it lasted three weeks in the end before they began growing out; nothing would chip them (housework, gardening etc) and I would have them done every few weeks if I could justify the cost.

Thank you. I think similar to Shellac, yes, but with UV light to set the polish? Promises similar results. So hard to believe it lasts so long, but from what you (and a lady in the salon) said, it is true. Last normal manicure, I hadn't even got on the bus home before it had chipped...
Just bought this scarf and so love the colour I'm going to take it with me to find a polish the same colour!

Yes Shellac uses UV light too...am sure you will love it. For the first couple of hours or so I was being very protective of my nails because I couldn't believe it wouldn't chip (like every manicure I've ever had) but it was really great.

its fab, is coloured gel, where as shellac is a hybrid - applied with a paint brush, quite thick, but brilliant, lasts weeks

Nails done! Shiny strong and apparently bulletproof.

am jel as hell as didn't have time to do mine before going away, am now on hols for 16 days so just done a coat of normal nail varnish..... :(

Don't know the reference numbers, but got a really strong deep coral-red on toes, and a softer coral on fingers. Was going to have same on both, but started with toes and wimped out when I saw how intense the colour was. Think I may be hooked...

Yes, twice and I loved the look of it.

Sadly, it wrecked my nails. It started to peel within about 3 days and I had to have them replaced...same thing happened. They refunded me which was fine but unfortunately it culminated in my nails breaking and peeling for several months until they grew through again.

I had gel nails done too.....just the once, lasted well then grew out.....I was totally smitten......BUT my previously rock hard nails have been made brittle and flaky and are now the worst I have ever seen them.....so their is a price to pay in more ways than one!
