Hair advice needed for today

I ve just bought a hair dye to use. It says it s permanent and lasts upto 8 weeks and covers grey.

I ve always had my hair coloured at the hairdressers so home colouring is new to me. What I want to know is if my (now virtually white) highlights will turn green or something dreadful. I had a base colour with various highlights put in a few months ago. My hair is dark brown with a natural auburn tint. Colour I ve bought is mid Mahogany. Any hairdressers out there who could help?

I am not a hairdresser but I am an avid user of permanent home hair colours. I have never had any trouble colouring over earlier different colours - i often switch from a lighter colour to a darker colour and it works fine. I also used one of those ones with highlighters in them that used to be available and dyed over them without trouble. Obviously just my experience.
