What waterproof shoes can I try on my toddler boy instead of wellies?

He hates them, the whole halfway up the leg thing renders him seemingly incapable of taking a step so we've been relying on ordinary shoes but he really could do with something to splash in.

Any suggestions would be welcome please.

I shall send him out in bare feet if none of you help me.

I've seen wellies that are just the shoe bit...for adults though.

I'd probably try cutting the top of a cheap pair and see if that worked.

Joules do welly bobs (i think) for kids.

Croc wellies are shorter than normal wellies? or you can buy things to put over his normal shoes (like a water proof sock).

If you can find a local retailer of Primigi shoes, get yourself some of their Gore Tex boots. They are shoes really, not wellies, but are really fantastic quality and as good as wellies for wet weather.

For the last 3 winters DS has had Primigi boots and they are warm, comfortable and totally waterproof. We use them instead of wellies in the snow and they have never let us down and wear extremely well (and he walks a lot).

DS has had the Primigi goretex boots in the past and they were great
