I need to do a serious wardrobe clearout.

Will someone please tell me for once and for all to get rid of any cardis with ruched/draped/waterfall fronts and mid calf length skirts and dresses, once and for all however pretty they are or expensive they once were. I need telling!

I'm early 40's,short,a little rounded and strapped for cash.

Pray tell me what I replace these items with if I'm not to wander about in my underwear. Please!

(Be quick,as the bin bags ready and I'm getting twitchy....)

I can't do skinny jeans,and I'm not sure I should do leggings.

If I chuck the skirts, what do I wear?

Sorry the help hasn't arrived yet. I've only just got into waterfall cardigans so can be of no use at all, but will be watching with a view to updating myself...

Do you know what - some waterfall cardigans are nice - thinking of ones from jigsaw/the white co as opposed to per una.

The best way I find is to try things on - when you've done your hair/make up and then take photos with your phone - so just a quick snap and look at it critically.

Also try stuff on in various combinations. Do 3 piles - keep, not sure and throw. Then in a month try the not sures on again.

What size/shape are you?

Thanks for the replies -I was despairing a little!

MrsCampbell I reckon I'm, realistically, a 16.I have a lovely pudgy overhang belly that CS's leave you with, and big bum and hips. But I have nice wide shoulders, good legs and reasonable (not too big, small or saggy) boobs.

I think my waterfall cardis in the main would be per una-ish tbh!

To be fair I do have a lovely dove grey cashmere waterfall cardigan that I'd be reluctant to part with.

(but I equally have some dire olive green/hot pink short sleeve types with a whole ruffly carry-on down the front Blush)

Right I've been through my whole wardrobe and have a lovely big pile to store away (and re-look at in a few months).
I've taken out anything a bit elderly, tried everything on and got rid of stuff that doesn't do me justice or doesn't fit,and got rid of what I reckon surely must be crimes against fashion.
I've found some nice things I'd forgotten about.

Next,as you suggested,MrsCampbell I'm going to try to make some workeable outfits with anything I've got left - and those that can't be tied in,I shall decide whether its worth buying around that item,or discarding it.

Now I appear to be short of trousers, going out clothes and dresses.

Any suggestions wise gurus for things that don't cost a bomb, and might suit me?

(and please tell me - can I keep my leopard print and brown faux fur jackets? I love them so and wear them in a non Bet Lynch way Grin)
