Can you give me opinions / advice on this dress?

Sorry, it's another dress-for-a-wedding thread. There's a picture on my profile if anyone would like to look and give me an opinion.

The wedding is 1950s themed and is this summer.

Does this dress (prom shape when worn, mid calf length) look 1950s-ish? Will I look strange in a black dress at a Summer wedding??

I think that dress is beautiful and does indeed look '50s. It isn't all black and I think the colour's fine for a wedding.

It's a lovely dress, I think the skirt looks 50s-ish. A more authentic neckline would be halter/wide straps, but I think if you acccessorize well, it won't matter. Maybe a wider yellow belt and fun shoes? You could add an underskirt to give it more poof?

I bought it second hand so I would have had to EBay it if the MN Jury rejected it

I've got a piece of matching material that I could add a halterneck with make into a bolero-type jacket.

Good idea re the belt - will look into it.
