Problem.... Waxed Jacket.

Have recently bought a Boden short waxed jacket, in the sale. Was £90 down from £130 so, thought "bargain!". Thanks to the change in the weather (again) I've had opportunity to wear it several times this week.

Can someone tell me if wax jackets generally "hold" heat? I find that sauntering in and out of shops I feel uncomfortably sweaty. Not just hot, cause I'm ot, particularly. It's as if because of the wax component, the jacket can't "breath". Is this usual, or is it because I didn't buy a Barbour?

When I got home, my cotton shirt underneath was dap and cold. This has never happened before with other jackets/coats so, I know it's not ME being menopausal!

Anyone?

I have one and I never seem to fell the right temperature in it. I'm either too hot or too cold. Can't compare it to a Barbour as I have enevr owned one. Also, you can't wash them which is a bit...ugh.

Hmmmm... Problem is, I've wanted one for ages and couldn't justify the price. I really like the colour/fit and I'm not an outdoorsy type so, it's just for nipping into town and with jeans etc but, it's going to be a problem. Could do with air holes in it. It's not my underarm area (sorry to be grafic) it's my entire torso. My shirt on my forearm had to changed when into home cause it felt damp and cold.

Confused

Sodding iPad! "my shirt had to be changed as even the forearms were cold and damp"

Are they trendy now? I'm a country chick and remember being forced to wear one as a child. I hated it for the wax smell!

VickityBoo.....did you feel like a damp cloth when you took it off? Not sure if they're trendy. I don't "do" Boden for me usually but I was ordering some stuff for ds in the sale and saw these had been reduced. I'd always fancied one. Sorry now!

barbours don't make you feel damp

VickityBoo · 18/04/2012 19:26

No recollection at feeling sweaty, but it may have been before puberty and I guess we're not so sweaty then!

Eliza22 · 18/04/2012 21:21

I have to say, I'm not that sweaty a person..... Tend to be a bit cold blooded actually but I've definitely got a "condensation" problem, with this.

Have emailed Johnnie Boden. I'll await his reply.

Have done a bit of I telnet searching and apparently, it IS a common problem.
