If you are a cowasher can you review your products for me please?

I have loose ringlets, a bit longer than nipple length and have been cowashing for a year.

I use Tresemmé naturals as a rinse out to give my scalp a good scrub, then a Naked conditioner (rotate between them all except the curly one as contains 'cones) left on while I do the rest of my shower. Out of the shower I apply Naked leave in conditioner, then Naked curl cream, the Umberto Gianni gel, then I pop my hair in a t-shirt turban for 20 mins, air dry for 3 hours ish, then scrunch out the crunch.

My leave in conditioner and curl cream are nearly empty so am looking for reviews to see if I might be better off with something else - I get a bit of canopy frizz and flyaways, might be helped by a bit more moisture?

What is a cowasher?

EqualStevens · 17/04/2012 14:33

Someone who washes their hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Also called the Curly Girl method, or the No Poo method.

I thought it was someone who washed cows!

EqualStevens · 17/04/2012 14:38

I only do that for fun!

Bumping and watching. Eek! Recently bought the Naked shampoo (I find I need to shampoo occasionally) and curly conditioner. Didn't check the ingrediants as thought all Naked products were cone free. Read on here yesterday that the Lush shampoo\conditioner for curly hair is great so going to try that next.

EqualStevens · 17/04/2012 19:27

Lush is OK but even their conditioners have SLS! It's because they use so much real nut butter/cocoa butter that they say they need a bit of detergent to wash them out. (I used to work for Lush).

My wonder product is the gel - it's the best thing I've ever put on my hair!

What is Naked and where can you get it? I use kinky curly curling custard ?its fab. You can get it frm British Curlies. I use a free sample they sent me as leave in conditioner- whipped something- or - other! It's great.:0

You can get Naked in Boots...Grin
It was on 3 for 2 last week. I am well impressed with it but don't do the no poo thing. lol at cowashing. Never heard that term before I thought it meant washing with your whole family all together in the one shower/bath. I need to get out more Blush

NimpyWindowmash · 17/04/2012 20:27

Does that make a cosleeper someone who sleeps with their conditioner?

LittleEsmeWeatherwax · 17/04/2012 20:30

Is this Naked stuff free from SLS?

Am on a mission for DD who has eczema.

dingdong3 · 17/04/2012 20:31

Naked is SLS and Paraben free :)

LittleEsmeWeatherwax · 17/04/2012 20:36

dingsong3, thank you.
Now to sort out her facial wash and skin care!

OP, sorry to hijack!

dingdong3 · 17/04/2012 20:48

You're welcome LittleEsme :)
If you've a Neal's Yard near you, you should call in...or if you don't it's worth finding where there is one and making the trip - or find a Neal's Yard home-based consultant. The starflower range is brilliant for eczema. They should be able to give you samples of it. Also ask about the Calendula & Oat lotion and try a sample. It's for the body - apparently amazing for eczema too.
I used to do Neal's Yard parties but don't do much now. If you're miles from a shop, I can find out where your nearest consultant is and she should be able to get you some samples also. (I'm N Ireland so guessing no-where near you!)
Sorry OP for more hijacking!

Garnier Fructis strength and shine is a great co wash conditioner. No cones and nice and light. I dilute it and work it into my scalp for 10 minutes. I use the fructis anti-frizz conditioner on my lengths as it's a bit heavier. All £1 from Asda :)
