Is this ok for a hen night?

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 11:23

I'm going to a hen night Saturday after next & I'm a bit stuck on what to wear.

I've never actually been to a hen night before and this one starts at 3pm with a cocktail class followed by dinner and then onto a casino, ending at about midnight.

I've got quite a tight budget but have come up with

this

and this

I have either black or pink shoes.

I'm 25, size 14/16, 5'10.

Is it suitable? Any suggestions on accessories/alternatives are more than welcome.

I'm thinking the black version of the dress by the way.

I think they would be lovely. I'd be happy to be seen with you. Grin
Don't think either would be out of place in cocktail/dinner/casino scenario and I have been to all 3 in recent memory.

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 11:32

Yay, thank you. I hoped if I hung around style & beauty long enough some of it would rub off Grin

Would you go for black or pink shoes/bag?

The pink are this colour but just plain round toe patent court shoes.

The black are that style but not patent.

I really like the outfit and think its spot on for the night. Id go for black shoes but thats me being practical as I think I would get more wear out of them than pink ones.

GinPalace · 17/04/2012 11:37

As you already have the pink shoes I would defo go for those as the patent is more evening wear and a splash of colour is more sexy. I personally find head to toe black a bit funeral/don't notice me. Grin

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 11:48

Sadly it makes me ridiculously happy that you both like the outfit.

I'm currently wearing post baby jeans & DPs Chrystal Palace sweatshirt & I've been trying to drag myself out of a rut.

This is my first night out since shifting some baby weight and although I still have some way to go I really want to look good with all the other gorgeous, childless 20 somethings.

Pink shoes it is GinPalace, can't have the bride-to-be hogging all the limelight Grin

OOOoooo fab - butterfly/chrysalis analogies akimbo! Stand by for legs witwoo. Grin

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 11:54

Somehow I read that as 'Stand by for legs akimbo!'

I believe that's how I ended up blessed with DS in the first place Grin

Brilliant!!

HandMadeTail · 17/04/2012 12:00

Pink shoes if you have them, but more decorum with those legs, please. Wink

Purplehonesty · 17/04/2012 12:21

I like! Lovely outfit. I was just about to order the dress as it's so nice and then I remembered I am 30 weeks preg.
Oh well maybe in a years time!!

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 12:32

Excellent, more people who like it. I can't believe it's only £7.99 and even better I have a £5 voucher to use.

You should get it anyway Purple, you could wear it during labor, bring a bit of glamour to the maternity ward Grin

GinPalace · 17/04/2012 13:36

Yes you get undo the seams and do some kind of Liz Hurley glamour mash up to brighten the occasion Grin

GinPalace · 17/04/2012 13:36

get - could

vonnyh · 17/04/2012 13:42

Smiling, how long s the dress on you?

vonnyh · 17/04/2012 13:42

is the dress on you?

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 15:44

That's a good point vonnyh, I haven't actually been to try it on yet, was going to go this weekend.

It says knee length but I do have quite long legs.

Would it look ok with black opaque tights if it's a bit on the short side do you think?

Loving the Liz Hurley idea Gin, I know what I'll be doing if we ever decide on DC2 now Grin

OP posts:
GinPalace · 17/04/2012 15:48

I think skin colour tights with the pink shoes would be better than black, unless it is pelmet short. Black opaque is a bit 90's.

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 15:53

And I was doing so well Sad

It looks long enough on the model & they're generally quite tall so hopefully it'll be ok.

If not I'll have to add skin colour tights to my list for m&s along with giant, hold-it-all-in knickers.

worldgonecrazy · 17/04/2012 15:57

I love that dress.

As it's so cheap I would also invest in some extra-strength shapewear to give you a lovely figure under it. Also means you don't have to suck your stomach in when you're all lovely and tipsy

vonnyh · 17/04/2012 16:22

smiling, I'm 5' 10'' too, so would love an update as to the length after you've tried it on. Thanks!

GinPalace · 17/04/2012 16:27

Where are all the nice dresses for 5'3" pregnant people?

SmilingandWaving · 17/04/2012 16:56

World I've already got a list which includes the biggest pair of knickers I can get in M&S and a bra to get my post baby boobs back to where they used to be

vonnyh I'll update you after I've dragged DP around the shops all day Saturday, now I'm just crossing my fingers they actually have it in stock.

If it's any consolation Gin I've spent most of my life wishing I was 5'3, I've always felt gawky & awkward next to my 5'1, size 6 BF and she gets to wear all the best skyscraper high shoes.

Have to say I'm really liking H&M at the moment, I've bought a few things from there recently and they've all been less than £7.99 I will also love them forever as I had to return all the items I bought in a L as I'm now an M!

OP posts:
Purplehonesty · 17/04/2012 20:20

Gin they don't exist. We have to wear frumpy clothes designed for tall pregnant women and turn up the legs.

bigpants103 · 17/04/2012 20:30

Worth checking if code 1304 is still working as that is £5 off an order.
