I'm hoping someone anyone can help

My friend is getting married in a lighthouse with the reception in a big teepee in the field next door and I have absolutely no idea what to wear

I'm about 5'8, a size 22 Blush and have massive boobs. I didn't want to go traditional wedding but wanted something nice and with the field probably flat shoes

Also my hair is baaaaad. I tried cutting it myself so have some buts about 5 inches long that only make it to the nape of my neck and other bits down to below my shoulders

I have 4 weeks to find shoes, outfit and for my hair to grow 6 inches

Please help me!!!!!!!!!

Can you ring round a few hairdressing colleges and ask about being a model for a student? If your hair is really bad (and I know the feeling, I cut my own hair once - big mistake!) then you need to sort that out and then you'll feel better I reckon. They can cut it so that it looks normal rather than multi-lengthed oddness.

I'm not very fashion-savvy so will leave that to tethersend et al, but you should be able to get your hair sorted for cheap/free.

warmandwooly · 17/04/2012 09:30

I reckon you should go for the 50's bombshell/siren look. Maybe instead of flats have you thought of weddges for height. Maybe a nice dress that hugs your curves and hair to fit...

like this

Maybe satin material?

blushingm · 17/04/2012 09:46

50's look is a fab idea - thanks

The field is normally in habitted by sheep and it quite lumpy in parts (ESP if it has rained recently) which is why I thought flats, the bride has bought bridal wellies jic!!

I went a wedding in a field! Take wellies in the car! Serioulsy! I didn't care that my wellies didn'ty match my dress when everyone else was ankle deep in mud and their heels were all ruined!

worldgonecrazy · 17/04/2012 09:58

I do a lot of weddings in fields. Wear flats if you can, or go barefoot if the weather is nice.

Don't forget to take a cardigan or a good warm wrap, and an umbrella. Better to be over-prepared with something you can take off than shivering in a strappy cotton dress.

The most stylish guests I've seen tend to go for a nice summery dress, with a smart cardigan and footwear of choice.

blushingm · 17/04/2012 11:00

Great advice crazy and gravy

What do you think of this dress here with a navy cardie, navy ballet flats and a red or navy flower clip in my hair?

After the 50's idea was mentioned I've been looking

I really like that dress a lot. Your outfit sounds perfect weather permitting. Of course, if it rains, all style goes out of the window, and warm and dry is the way to go.

maybeIwillmaybeIwont · 17/04/2012 11:06

Love that dress, think it would look lovely on you :)

MerryMarigold · 17/04/2012 11:08

Lovely dress. I would go for navy wellies and carry the ballet shoes in handbag! You'll need red lips to match the dress!

blushingm · 17/04/2012 11:10

Good idea with taking my shoes in a bag!!!!

I will order that dress and cross my fingers it fits and that the weather shines! Hopefully no Marilyn moments as its always windy at the lighthouse!!!

When is the wedding?

I went to a wedding in a field once, in the spring. It poured all day, they had to lay down duckboards and it was freezing. People's shoes were wrecked!

Flat shoes and seriously consider some kind of warm cardigan, jacket or coat.
Depending on the weather you may want to wear tights or thermals.

MerryMarigold · 17/04/2012 11:12

Here is a makeup tutorial for a pin up girl - it's perfect, not halloweeny at all, and may give you a hair idea too (go curls)

LadyWord · 17/04/2012 11:14

That dress is fab and would actually look good with wellies IMO! Find some pretty wellies to go with it (seriously, there are loads of colourful/floral etc. designs) and some shoes for the indoor parts, plus a cute cardie. You will look lovely :)

StellaAndFries · 17/04/2012 11:15

I'd beware of Hell Bunny the sizes are notoriously small, I'm the same size as you and think 50's would be fab, I love my full circle dresses as they emphasise my boobs and hide the bad bits. If you have a look on ebay there are loads of sellers selling the swing/rockabilly/5o's style dresses.

This is a good shop too.

This is also a good shop and they do made to measure too.

There are also a lot of Chinese sellers selling these sort of dresses, I bought a dress and a petticoat from hourglass dresses on eBay and they arrived in less than a week and are beautiful and very cheap!

GravyHadALumpyMashBaby · 17/04/2012 11:15

Oh lovely dress!!

blushingm · 17/04/2012 11:48

Thanks for the tip Stella - I've ordered the hell bunny dress (says it has elastic at the back to is hopefully a bit forgiving!!!) but will go search those 2 you mention and the eBay one too - thanks

The wedding is the 5th of may - ceremony in a lighthouse and then a giant teepee. There's a hand fasting too which I think might be in the teepee. I'm quite excited - its unusual but suits the couple down to the ground

Would these be too much?..

shoes

OP posts:
StellaAndFries · 17/04/2012 14:32

I think those would love lovely especially if your having a navy cardigan.

lynniep · 17/04/2012 14:41

This fullerfigurefullerbust.wordpress.com/ is a great blog for ideas for gals with curves.

blushingm · 17/04/2012 21:26

What about these shoes instead here or would ballet flats be better?

OP posts:
GravyHadALumpyMashBaby · 17/04/2012 21:52

Prefer the ballet pumps. Like Stella says especially with a cute navy cardigan.

warmandwooly · 17/04/2012 22:20

What about looking at some Mel jelly/plastic shoes. Just in case it rains

WipsGlitter · 18/04/2012 08:20

Not those shoes, I find that type of shoe the strap can really dig in. I'd go for flats and wellies in the car. Deffo NOT jelly or plastic shoes smelly and slippymifmit gets wet and not v stylish! Dress is fab - has it arrived?

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 18/04/2012 08:55

I love that dress, it's gorgeous and will look fab with what you're planning - I think the ballet flats go best and definitely get some funky wellies - have fun :)

blushingm · 18/04/2012 10:32

Not arrived yet - but postie hasn't been yet. I was dispatched yesterday by recorded so I'm on tender hooks waiting for it. N

Dh was a bit surprised as I normally go for dark plain clothes but it's a special wedding so I thought a change was called for - just hope it fits now!!!!

I really appreciate all suggestions - thanks!
