Eyeliner just sliding off!

mrsmoscow · 16/04/2012 21:21

I have tried a few brands and basically they all disappear within an hour or so.

Is there something I can put on my lids to stop this happening? Maybe a primer or something?

same thing happens to me

join the greasy lid gang

urban decay do a good primer

and bobbi brown gel eyeliner is the best for me

louwn · 16/04/2012 21:36

Agree with the bobbi brown - only thing that stays for me too. Putting a tiny bit of foundation over eyelids seems to help too.

mamalovesmojitos · 16/04/2012 21:40

BB good. If you're looking for something cheaper essence gel liner doesn't budge (the essence brush isn't great though), I also find gosh liquid liner very long-lasting.

CarpeJugulum · 16/04/2012 21:44

Primer. Works beautifully and smooths out little creases.

I've got the Barbara Daly stuff from Tesco and t'is brill.

BettyNoir · 16/04/2012 21:56

elf mineral primer - good and cheap!

lololizzy · 16/04/2012 22:08

just got the Bobbi Brown and it does not stay put on me! panda eyes within half an hour even if on top lashline only.It drifts down.
I like Blinc's liquid eyeliner. I still lose some by end of the day but for me it's by far the best.

lololizzy · 16/04/2012 22:09

and it just 'falls off' rather than smears and smudges. So i can just re - add, rather than do a clean up job

mrsmoscow · 16/04/2012 22:22

Great suggestions. Thanks all. Think I need to invest in a primer

I've tried them all, Lancome's Artliner is the answer. The BB gives me panda eyes after a few hours. The artliner will not flake or budge for 15 hours and never gives me panda eyes. Take it off with baby oil.

lololizzy · 16/04/2012 23:12

wow Artliner must be only one I've not tried, then! can you wear it on the waterline? and for sensitive eyes? Really cross with the BB new pencil gels as assistant swore it would stay put through anything. I didn't put moisturiser or eye cream under or around eye so you'd think it would have a good chance. I had dreadful panda eyes. Also doing 'flicks' - these bits drifted downwards within 15 mins and looked clown like! For a £17.50 eyeliner!

omydarlin · 16/04/2012 23:24

I am assuming you are not just putting on a naked eye? If you are that would be the problem - kinda needs something to stick too. At the moment I am using a Collection 2000 purple waterproof liquid liner always on top of eye shadow though. Also do you touch/rub your eyes a lot? Sounds simples but a lot do it including me!

Mabelface · 16/04/2012 23:33

I fix my liner by applying shadow of the same colour over it. Mine lasts all day.

Maraki · 17/04/2012 07:00

Lololizzy: yes, you can use Artliner on sensitive eyes and without any primer or other makeup on. I don't think you can use it on the waterline, its a liquid in a felt tip pen. I make tiny dots on the roots of my lower lashes then join them together. Nowadays I draw a thick black line with a flick at the end.

On Saturday I put it on at 7am, took a flight on holiday, had a couple of hours sleep at 7pm (yes I slept in my makeup when DD slept) then went out at 11pm with the eyeliner still intact (and the doublewear foundation). My skin was dry though but that's a different story.

Check out it's reviews on makeup alley. I am not affiliated with Lancome in any way and this is the only Lancome product that I use.

louwn · 17/04/2012 07:41

I do find eyeliner comes off more easily when I have my contact lenses in for som reason- I usually wear glasses for work and BB stays put. However yesterday I put lenses in for a work meetb

louwn · 17/04/2012 07:41

Gah posting on phone...meant to say 'and had to reapply twice!

SephoraRosebud · 17/04/2012 12:37

Another vote for Artliner- its the only eyeliner that stays put on my eyes.

technoduck · 17/04/2012 14:35

Clinique liquid liner is the best one I have ever found, its alot of money but worth it.

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 17/04/2012 15:05

I use this it really is THE best eyeliner in the world, and their eyebrow pencil is great too..only a fiver too!

orangina · 17/04/2012 15:13

Sali Hughes from the Guardian recommends Urban Decay eyelid primer. Also, she puts a bit of normal eyeliner on BEFORE the liquid liner, to help it stay.

Somewhere there is a great video she has done.....

(wanders off to look for it)

orangina · 17/04/2012 15:14

here we go!

Enjoy Smile

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn · 17/04/2012 15:21

I have tried them all. Now I use a damp fine brush dipped in deeply pigmented eye shadow. It also avoids that hard edged line that looks a bit 'cheap'.

A Warning though regarding siliconised waterproof liners-

the eye lash line has glands that secrete a lubricating oil called Meibium. Mine became blocked because of daily use of these eye liners. The discomfort I suffered because of no natural oils was immense and it took months of manual massage, use of special eyebags and medication for the problem to even begin to resolve.

Even special make up removers do not stop the problem of the ingredients blocking these glands during the day.

sobenobu · 17/04/2012 20:43

oooooh!!! I use these dailyShock

cybbo · 17/04/2012 20:50

I pop some bare essecuals mineral veil all voer my lids before liner

Do you use oil based eye make up remover?

that will make everything slide off

ggirltwin2pinot · 17/04/2012 21:03

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs does the eyebrow one stay put as well?

All the brow stuff I use wears off really quickly.

MissCeliaFoote · 18/04/2012 10:37

I've found the Bourjois Liner Feutre (felt tip liner) to be really good lately for staying on. Plus it's easier to apply than a liquid.
