Prone to spots with combo skin, so have to use oil free make up. However don't like the flaky look some can make you have. V uneven skin tone too. I have used clinique is it still good? Most be mainstream counter as I need this week locally.

I've got the Superdrug own brand GOSH primers (both the velvet touch and the other one - one's clear and one's white). They're as good as any other I've tried and quite reasonably priced (£10 I think). The clear one is good for oily/combo skin.

Have just bought the Barbara Daly one from Tesco for ten quid, and have used it for the first time today.

Impressions -
Pluses -

  • goes on like a dream, makes skin incredibly smooth
  • foundation glided on on top really easily
  • gave my skin a lovely very subtle extra 'radiance'
  • gave a much better 'finish' to the foundation than normal

Minuses -

  • the foundation (same amount as normal) seemed to spread a little too thinly in places, maybe I didn't leave enough time for the primer to sink in first
  • It did not act as a pore filler, but saying that, it helped the foundation to glide over my problem open pores nicely

Haven't used it for enough time to say whether it helps with my makeup staying put for longer during a long day, but I'm very pleased so far and can see I will be using it every day.

Tesco has a 3-for-2 on the Barbara Daly makeup at the moment, so I got a couple of other things too (some skin lumininsing stuff which I would use on a night out on accent areas e.g. cheek bones, and some nice mascara)

I quite like the Barbara Daily one. I used to use YSL before that and adored it but it's v expensive. You only needed a tiny bit though on the plus side. I find I use more of the BD one each time. This is only my first pot of it though so I will be interested how long it lasts me compared to a tube of the YSL one.
