I want a comfy bra

Seen adverts for genie, ahh bra and slim and lift bras and am tempted. Even when i get properly fitted for a bra, they always end up uncomfortable. Can anyone advise me?

Freya bras, great for large norks.

BramblyHedge · 15/04/2012 17:50

Where do you get measured?

AngelWreakinHavoc · 15/04/2012 17:52

I always go to debenhams to get measured they seem to have a lot more experience than other places i have been to. I have tried other places but debenhams are always spot on.

I am about to google freya bras. My boobs are fairly small - 36B. Been measured in john lewis and marks and spencers.

measure yourself. M&S measured me as a 36C, I spent years wondering why bras were so uncomfortable, I thought my boobs must be a funny shape or something. Then I measured myself and I am actually a 32E.

AKissIsNotAContract · 15/04/2012 18:48

What's the most accurate way to measure yourself?

LapOfTheGods · 15/04/2012 19:01

Measure yourself and try ultimate dreamwire, they are comfy.

LapOfTheGods · 15/04/2012 19:02

Ultimo not ultimate.

LapOfTheGods · 15/04/2012 19:03

I was wearing 34b but am actually 32d. Lots of good websites on how to measure accurately.

AKissIsNotAContract · 15/04/2012 19:32

thank you

Wolfordwonder · 15/04/2012 19:33

I've just got a next seamless sort of ahhh bra £10, and very comfortable - maybe the end of underwire for me - I'm a 34c got medium size - haven't taken it off!

anothergirlanotherplanet · 15/04/2012 20:19

I have just bought a really comfortable non wired bra from.......Blush
Matalan.

I was in to get garden llanterns never considered them for undies but have so many uncomfortable bras.

It is non wired and feels great .

anniewoo · 15/04/2012 20:56

I like triumph amourette comfy and pretty tho not sexy Grin

knowwhenyouhavebeenbeaten · 16/04/2012 10:22

m&s are crap for measuring.

ShirleySharpeyes · 16/04/2012 10:44

Have you a Triumph shop near you? Once measured the whole shop will fit as they are all accurately sized. I am a convert, comfy, properly fitting and not all of them are too frumpy.

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/04/2012 10:46

Once you know your size in a particular brand, you can buy them from ebay for loads cheaper

dottyaboutstripes · 16/04/2012 11:55

I'm amazed as I put my measurements into that link and it gave me the right size!

I am also a Triumph gal. In fact, it's the only brand which seems consistently to fit. In their own stores, they seem to have much nicer bras than the dept stores stock too.

ChishAndFips · 16/04/2012 12:03

Go to a specialist lingerie shop, they can tell what size bra you should be wearing just be looking at you, it's amazing. Rigby and Peller if you're in London, otherwise there are individual shops elsewhere. The bras are quite pricey (£50+) but so worth it, and they last for years. I like the brand Marie Jo which lots of these little lingerie places stock, I don't think you can buy it directly online sadly.

teejwood · 16/04/2012 12:19

I recently spotted a bra in m&S i liked and went to get it fitted. the assistant was lovely and said that their sizing varies between the different in-house sub-brands - with the more expensive ones (eg autograph) being better cut with more fabric, so if you want to buy one of the cheaper ranges you need to size up. seems mad that you will be different sizes even within the same single-brand shop, though. no wonder they have such a bad rep these days...

MistyMountainHop · 16/04/2012 12:21

genie bra's are amazing IMO

but seem to be hard to find in the UK

i got a 3 pack on ebay a few months ago but last time i looked there weren't any
