What does anyone think of these and what colour would be good? I quite like the brighter colours but don't know whether I'd be brave enough to wear them! Maybe the pink but would I be limited to wearing navy with them?

Oh link

Thanks

I haven't tried those ones but they look as though they are the same fabric as the crops that I bought 2 years ago - in which case the fabric is lovely: very soft and holds its shape well. They do look as though they may be a tad short though but that's probably my bias - I prefer an ankle skimming crop to a mid-calf.

Millie1 · 15/04/2012 18:40

Good point about the length ... maybe a long would be better than a regular! Don't like them too short either due to my unshapely calfs! (Or should that be 'calves'?!). No harm in trying them Wink

Please do report back :) I have quite short legs so the regular length crops I have are just an inch above my ankle. I have rather (ahem) "muscular" calfs/calves too. But these ones do look shorter so would definitely try a long.

Millie1 · 15/04/2012 19:02

Oh I wish mine were muscular ujjayi ... Sadly they're thin, scrawny and completely shapeless!!! Yep, will report back - two week wait.

I am waiting for delivery ( tomorrow) of the grey and stone colour. Perfer the grey.

But I know I have to lose 3lbs to get into the size 10 , Groan emoticon.

I bought some very similar last year in Chalk but they have 3% elastyn.

Bluepetticoat · 15/04/2012 19:26

I like them shorter! If they are meant to be shorter than I hate them just an inch above the ankles as they simply look like long trousers too short IYSWIM.

polyhymnia · 15/04/2012 19:49

according to the site, the long seem to be the same length as the straightleg linen crops. Have just received a pair of these (linen crops) which I'm very pleased with, and don't find stupidly short, although I'm 5'9''. Not ankle skimming, though.

Millie1 · 15/04/2012 19:53

Thanks guys. Blue will you report back please?

Reporting back...

The grey is nice ( dark) but the light brown is not a nice colour.

length- hmmmmmmmm. Thinking about this! They are described as straight leg but in fact they seem quite tapered- wider at the thigh then skimming down to a narrow ankle.

I ordered a 10P petite. I can get them fastened though need to lose 2-3lbs so they are comfy across tummy. I am not sure about the length. last year I bought some stretchy chino-type trousers and they are much longer but I roll them up a little. These are too short to roll up- they'd end up mid calf- and I like a slightly rolled-up casual look.

I think the problem with the petite size is that the upper leg is proportioned for a regular length, then they have simply been made shorter. The proper way to make them petite would be to cut the thigh slightly slimmer so it is in proportion with the slim ankle- makes sense?

it's the same problem you have if you shorten a pair at home- you sometimes loose the "cut".

I am going to order the regular to compare. goodness knows how much is on my credit card now with Boden as everything is being ordered or exchanged in several sizes.

Millie1 · 16/04/2012 21:03

Thanks Blue ..... I guess there's nothing for it but to order regular and long and see what they're like. It's disappointing that the petit size feels as though they're the longer length chopped up a bit hmmm. Will order now - good job Boden has free postage and returns!!

Obvious question but have you a) measured your insdie leg and b) measured a pair of trousers you like that are the right length?

My inside leg for a pair of trousers is around 28-29 inches. The reg Boden ones here are 25.5.

Millie1 · 16/04/2012 22:07

Blush! Though my Gap jeans are a 32 inside leg so the long might be best ... Or might it?

Bluepetticoat · 16/04/2012 22:12

Do you want them to look like crops or not?

if you have long legs, the regular will be above the ankle.

Millie1 · 16/04/2012 23:05

Yep, crops! Have both in basket and will report back!!

I am reserving judgement for a few days. I think they are expensive for a pair of cropped cotton trousers, but all clothes seem to have gone up in price this season. white stuff's are around £49.

My biggest gripe with these is that the ankles seem too narrow - and the upper thigh a bit baggy. But if i can't find anything else I may keep them.

polyhymnia · 17/04/2012 12:05

Have ordered a grey pair - long because I'm tall. I want a cropped effect but not so ludicrously short they only look fit for walking on the beach. Also like a rolled-up look.

Usually have trouble with fit of Boden trousers - often baggy in wrong places, or too short in body. But the success of the linen crops this season has encouraged me to try these. Will report back.

polyhymnia · 18/04/2012 18:26

Mine came. Pretty happy with the fit - not too baggy, though ideally would be a bit narrower in leg - and also with the length which isn't too short.

But unfortunately that particular grey doesn't really go with any tops I have. Hoped it would be a slatey, blue-y grey but it has a touch of almost green/khaki at least IMO, and so doesn't really tone with anything I've got. Had thought I'd get the light brown, but blue said it wasn't a nice colour. Can you say why, blue (eg too yellow-y or whatever)?
