So am I warm or cool?Lots of conflicting advice which basically says you have a cool undertone and the 'warm' balances this out. How does colour analysis come into this? Does it work on the same principle? So if you have a cool undertone does that make you a warm because you have to wear the opposite?

Help.

I am being driven nuts.

The foundation is a perfect match by the way.

I need the benefit of your wisdom.

I thought the NW and NC stood for 'Not Warm' and 'Not Cool' toned, so you would be a 'not warm toned 20', therefore your base should be pink and not yellow based?

you need to wait for HavingKittens. she's an ex MAC makeup artist (if i remember rightly) so will be able to explain it far better Grin

Thankyou for your advice. I just don't know what to make of it all. The make-up person said I was neutral but with yellow and pink undertones. This one was my best match and I took the N to mean neutral.

You can see why it's driving me nuts!

Thanks for your views though!

As far as I am aware, the W's are pink toned and the C's are yellow toned. Pink being warm and Yellow being cool, so like for like.

QuinnFabray · 14/04/2012 22:36

You don't need to "balance out" your skin with foundation, you want your foundation to match your natural skin tone as well as possible, so yeah, if you're warm toned you wear a warm tone foundation, and vice versa.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/04/2012 22:49

NW is neutral warm (pinkish) NC is neutral cool (yellowish)

Rustygussets · 15/04/2012 14:13

Thank-you for all your helpful replies. I am going to go with warm toned as a guess. I think I'm pretty neutral over all so will keep this in mind.

What KenDodd said Smile

The confusing thing being that MAC considers pink to be warm and yellow cool, yet some cosmetics companies state the opposite. The easiest thing is just to know whether your skin tone is pink or yellow - and generally speaking, match it.
