"Semi" permandent colour and fixing regrowth

I always ask for a semi as sometimes its a long time between haircuts. Normally I chose a colour close to my natural one as I just want to add a bit of shine/warmth.

I got my hair done in January. Now I have a decent amount of regrowth (thought my hair just held the colour longer!) but when I went to make an appt with a (new) hairdresser she said that I was given a permanent and not a semi Angry

Apparently its quite common, they just tell you its a semi but just put in a permanent? Anyway she wants to do a consultation before the colour to 'fix' the problem but I'd rather get an idea of what I want before so I don't have to pay for that [cheap].

Any ideas?

I'm not an expert but have been colouring my own hair for the last 24 yrs ;-0

So, I think you could put a colour matching semi on top, and keep up with that until perm colour grows out. Semi perms are great for shine.

You could also have the perm colour removed and start again. Quite expensive in the salon, but you can buy colour remover online, I bought some on ebay a couple of years ago. I very easily and successfully removed a dark red cherry shade up to a strawberry blonde, which i was happy with for about 8 quid. Didnt seem to affect the condition too much and I had long hair at the time.

Or you could bite the bullet and stick with the perm colour, have root growth done every 4 weeks or whatever you prefer and every 2 or 3 appointments have it pulled through lengths to refresh the ends colour.
