...i wear a maxi dress or a jumpsuit? i have been invited to the evening do only.

is this too casual?

how about this jumpsuit

i am 5'7, in reasonable shape, size 12-14 depending on bloat levels

i really don't want to get my legs out but i will if i must

I like the maxi dress but not the jumpsuit. Looks like the maxi has great reviews too.

HenriettaFarthingay · 12/04/2012 19:07

Love the dress and it looks totally suitable for the evening do. The jumpsuit, not so much (never been a jumpsuit person), it looks a bit more suitable for a club night or something.

chibi · 12/04/2012 19:07

oh and i am 37 years of solid gold old. i want to look sophisticated and marlene dietrichy older lady not mrs dowdy or madam frumpy, and i want something i could maybe wear again maybe.

perhaps.

re: maxi even though it is jersey, this is still what my mother would say 'snazzy' enough do you think?

I prefer the dress, but I think both are appropriate for a wedding evening do.

tethersend · 12/04/2012 19:22

I think the jumpsuit would be better in taupe, with some gold heels/jewellery.

The maxi looks a bit mumsy.

MsNorbury · 12/04/2012 19:23

lol at the post the jumpsuit is in

MsNorbury · 12/04/2012 19:23

WATCH for camel toe in jumpsuit
or an errant arse.

walk about with a blunt friend ? looking at it

MagsAloof · 12/04/2012 19:23

The jumpsuit needs serious shoes and bling to snazz it up Grin...but overral lit is far nicer than the maxi dress.

BackforGood · 12/04/2012 19:26

I like the maxi. I'm not a person who likes jumpsuits, so my opinion would be no, but that might be my bias agains jumpsuits rather than specific for any occasion.

MsNorbury · 12/04/2012 19:27

i think the era of the maxi dress has gone and tbh they only looked nice on a sizw 10

everyone else looks like a ship in full sail - often with fat hammy arms

chibi · 12/04/2012 19:28

yay!!! i already have oxblood patent heels so high they do voodoo, will this work, or do i need strappy lil sandals?

what kind of bling? i have some gold and sparkly bangles/cuffs i can nick back from my 5 y o

i was deffo leaning toward the jumpsuit, surely not too much for a junoesque woman of my girth

the maxi is sold out in my size(es). so fate has spoken.

Think the maxi dress is nice but a bit casual. You could really dress the jumpsuit up and make it look quite cool and sexy. Just make sure the cut of it looks good on you

cazza40 · 12/04/2012 19:33

Think strappy high sandals and loads of gold jewellery would look good

sherbetpips · 12/04/2012 19:34

I think both can be dressed up with either shiny chunky black or gold jewellery and some nice shoes - I have another version of the jumpsuit and people always say how nice it looks.

monkeysmama · 12/04/2012 19:34

I think the dress is fine with sandals & a denim jacket for day wear but not for a wedding, especially evening. I love the jumpsuit and agree that it'll look good. Heels and gold bling. I have some black leather strappy wedges I wear with my jumpsuits as they're comfy and really elongate my legs.

StyleGuile · 12/04/2012 20:14

I love the jumpsuit - it's so cool and it will be different to all of the other outfits there. Go and have some fun with it!

Pollykitten · 12/04/2012 20:40

Both gorgeous and could be dressed up - jumpsuit probably easier to bling up plus looks properly 'fashion'. I would wear with patent beige heels, a big blingy cuff and lots of eye make up
