i think it was the lovely, wise Tatty who coined that phrase.

i went grey in my early twenties and i guess i'm 60 pct now. been dying it close to natural colour mainly with majirel 4.0 and 4.3 mixed either professionally or by myself athome. the greys are noticeable at the temples and grow so fast i can't keep up and it's getting so the colour is overdying and a need to go lighter i think.

mynhairdresser a while back said go for light brown (majirel 5.34?) and 6 pct and do only the roots.

not sure what to do about the darker hair though. remove the colour? i could afford to go tomthe salon for this, but not for 4 weekly dye jobs. can't get the babysitting and don't have the cash as i'm on unpaid mat leave.

help!

There was aLiz Jones article about doing this, she had some caramel highlights put in along the parting and the roots tinted a shade lighter. Found it! here

much as i had to slag off a woman for her appearance ... it's not her roots she needs to worry about! (sorry, i guess she's fair game)

thanks for the article, her hair looks much better though the highlights she got look too uniform for me, but fewer round the hairline might work. but then you'd trash them by retouching, no?

think i need a hairdresser, even my sallys' ordering bodging can't do this.

i like the really light colour by the part, that works well.

I had this problem and managed to fade it using head and shoulders shampoo!
My hairdresser recommended it and it did lighten it by one shade. When I did my roots I bought a 5 base and used that instead of the 4 and it is absolutely fine!
