Hi all,
J crew uk site has free shipping/tax/returns and some lovely bits!
Any advice on how sizes run?
Love DHL pick ups but suspect would be a queue-up-in-post-office-job so would prefer a bit of s&b wisdom if possible
Thanks in advance ......

Their sizing is very generous in my opinion - similar to gap I guess.

Think their returns are DHL too.

I love j crew stuff Smile

Theweek · 12/04/2012 07:21

Marvellous- I suspect I will love j crew also
DHL pick up is music to my ears
How is the quality? Hoping similar to splendid but a little cheaper Wink
Thanks MrsCB

I made it to a couple of jcrew shops last week and tried on masses of stuff before buying! The quality seemed good and the shirts I bought have been washed and look as good as before- albeit a week isn't that long. The cashmere seemed smaller than the rest of the clothes though so I would watch that! Gorgeous pencil skirts and the lace t shirt top looks brilliant! They had just fabulous colours as well. Happy shopping- if you get a chance will you post re the delivery/ customer services please do as I just may place an order before their offer runs out. But honestly the stuff in the stores was just lovely- so colourful and cheery!

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/04/2012 08:38

Good point re. the cashmere - my sx small jumper is very very small indeed.

I'm generally a small 8 in topshop, 25 in premium denim and am a size 0 in j crew if that helps. Actually their measurements on their size charts are a pretty good guide.

Link to what you're going to purchase please Smile They open in the UK next year i think or is it this year?

suburbandweller · 12/04/2012 08:59

I second that jcrew sizes are generally generous, but the quality is good. I'm a UK6-8/US2, and the dress I have from there in XS is pretty roomy. They stock it on net-a-porter which has a sizing guide for each item (they usually say to size up or down if sizing is a bit off), so you might want to check there before you order for guidance on individual bits.

Thanks for all the help! Had tried to buy on NAP but they are low on sizes-they say that most of the bits they stock are true to size but I had heard they run a little larger.

Only want a few basics for the long hot summer anticipated!

Argggghhhh - no duties but adding tax at checkout-extra 20%.
I have a sneaking suspician that Selfridges at Traff Centre may stock J Crew, am going next week anyhow so will defer for now. Possibly? hmmm. Not sure. argghhh.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/04/2012 11:23

I've never had colour run - what tops did that?

MsNorbury · 12/04/2012 11:30

i had a striped one ( ahem) and the colour has not stayed as strong as the boden version

PLUS a cardigan i got in the US is very bobbly v fast

MsNorbury · 12/04/2012 11:31

oi come on to the " this is the dress" tyhread and bully the size 8 who thinks her arms are too fat.

Hmm
alwaysrunninginheels · 12/04/2012 11:32

Theweek- I bought the ultra eyelet skirt and it is lovely. The colour is so gorgeous! The top was the same colour and material so I love your choice there!
Em- also have the Blythe blouse- another beautiful item. The colour is so vibrant!
And if the lace tank is like the sleeved lace one it is fabulous!!!!
The Henley was a bit shapeless compared with some of the other items but maybe it would suit a different shape more. V excited to hear they are opening in uk- when when when?

Theweek · 17/04/2012 11:13

Thanks again for all the advice!
Have ordered and added a couple of sale items.
Expecting delivery 4-8 days apparently via the-oh-so-wonderful DHL and will report back.
It's a bit confusing-some of sale items are non-returnable, but relativelly cheap so have taken a flyer
Will report back..... :)
