Does a complete sunblock exist?

I purchased (on the advice of the wise mners) Neutrogena sheer dry touch factor 45 sunblock.

I have to say though...it hasn't stopped my chest from reddening. My face is ok as always have foundation as extra protection and none of the rest of me really burns but my chest is horrible when it's red! I'd so much rather be white!

I'm not talking about sitting in the sun here either, just wandering around in general.

So, apart from a polo-neck, what else is going to help?

I use PIz Buin Allergy factor 50 as my skin hates the su. Does the job.

Childrens factor 50+. I have to use it due to a sun allergy and it does help

I will admit I have been slack in the past with sun protection but not any longer. And I wonder whether this particular area is very sensitive to the sun nowadays?

I wonder whether spf 50 is enough? How about 100? Anyone gone to these lengths?

They say that factor 100 is a myth sold by cosmetic companies. that 50 is as high as it goes unless you use a total sun block zinc (the white stuff that stays white)??

TattyDevine · 11/04/2012 19:04

I was going to say Zinc Oxide but Farely beat me to it, not that you'd slather the chest area with it! But those Aussie cricketers know what they are on about. Not much help though eh.

Can Iask how old you are?
Since I started the menopause I have been increasingly intolerant of he sun..unexpained spots and blotches I never used to get.

I usually wear all day factor 30 or 50+ and still my chest is red but nothing else is. I'm very pale & freckly but my chest will burn when nothing else does, so clearly a more tender area. I tend to drape a lightweight scarf around if I'm outside a lot, can't really think of anything else!
