Home hair colour virgin - help needed

Hi, I'm finding myself on a budget and I need to forgo having my hair cut and coloured at the salon every 8 weeks (v. expensive) to thinking about doing the colour myself at home.

I am not sure which is the best brand, and if I am being crazy doing this. I have shoulder length straight hair and am going quite grey. I have had it highlighted in different tones of blonde and caramel brown for as long as I can remember but quite fancy going to a more light chocolate brown colour, I'm thinking less roots and getting rid of the grey.

The other option is maybe going to the local college beauty salon and letting them do it for £20, I'm hoping with teachers supervision.

I'd love it to find something glossy and great I could do at home though so any recommendations etc most appreciated

Thank you

You could buy a box and take it to the hair dressers to do it.

My hairdresser only charges £5 for this.

I prefer casting hair dyes, (the ones Cheryl Cole advertises) They're semi permanant so less damage to your hair but will cover grey.

Or if you want something permanant Nice and Easy are good.

If you have a Sallys salon services near you, you can buy hair dyes and bleaches that hairdressers use. Theres a good range it.
