Sorry about thread title. Hope everyone is back from holidays soon and will find us here.

amber Which JBrands did you get?

bonsoir I tried on those two tops in Cos before Easter and was tempted too. Bought a simple navy dress in Cos and shoes, which are not on the website Hmm. Will return this top. Cos is great at the moment I think.

Me too.

Taken me ages to drop that. I mask it now by shopping from NaP and Matches. But it's there underneath. Grin

notyummy · 18/04/2012 16:03

I partied backstage with Primal Scream as I was going out with their session guitarist. I WAS with the band (and boy, could they party..... Rock and roll babylon and beyond tbh. Bit scary.)

And now I labour under the job description of Senior Civil Servant...

Rock n roll, eh?! Wink

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2012 16:04

You do still rock it NY Grin

We know it.

IceCreamCastles · 18/04/2012 16:06

Afternoon all.

Hope it's going well MiM. It's my first week with both dcs too. And dh had the dreaded ofsted phone call yesterday so won't be home during daylight hours until friday. Great timing!

Yesterday morning I discovered that dd had 'washed' her hair with baby oil just as we were getting ready to leave for playgroup. Luckily I had the genius idea using dry shampoo to sort it out a bit but I could have cried- she looked like a v greasy teenager!

Sorry you've had a bad day red. I like pickled's children's party idea!

And mrscb- I can definitely see you as an independent personal shopper- could possibly even do it online.

NotSoGrumpy · 18/04/2012 16:07

I've just been doing a pros and cons list about going back to work. 'Could buy a Davina' is now on the 'pros' side Grin. It's proving a good distraction from stressing about DD1's school place.

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2012 16:08

mrsCB I often fantasise about being a personal shopper, or a buyer for a big dept store. My aunt used to be a fabric buyer for YSL and she had such a glamourous lifestyle! Gave it up for babies though...

IceCreamCastles · 18/04/2012 16:09

Oh dear-far too many exclamation marks- sorry (!)

blossoming · 18/04/2012 16:24

Screamadelica was the soundtrack to my year abroad ny. That and Nevermind, and Carters' USM Blush.
You have lead such a cool life.
Best of luck decam and grumpy with schools.
Hope the day went well mim.

Decameron · 18/04/2012 16:28

NY, you do need a Davina. Primal Scream, I love them. Envy

Red, hope your day gets better. Who knows what the tutoring might bring? You have a great CV and you're such a personable lady, good things will come.

I was offered a great job a few years ago and subsequently got DD1 into daycare very quickly, people are always changing their plans and places come up. However, DH was very unhappy about it as he just couldn't imagine trusting anyone else to care for DD1 and I ended up resigning. I was quite resentful about it for a long time but in the end decided to park the idea of working full time for a while. Now he can't wait for me to go back to work.

Verity, I should get an email sometime this evening. She already goes to nursery there and loves it but last year the cutoff point was 424 metres. We are about 280 metres away. I haven't applied to any other schools so if she doesn't get a place I will be moving in with my dad and she'll go to Sutton Park for a while!

NSG, sent you a pm. Hope your DD1 gets a place in the school you want. I have wine ready for later. :)

Portia, the grass is definitely always greener, you're so right.

Amber hope the toe isn't broken!

Decameron · 18/04/2012 16:29

Thanks Bloss.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2012 16:43

Good luck Decam and NSG.

I am looking at holidays. I can't decide - take DH to Australia or not. So hard!

Portia4 · 18/04/2012 16:47

Decam I can imagine worse places than SPS, It didn't do me any harm! DD1 also went there when we moved back to Ireland!

When we lived in London DD1 went to the Roch School in Wandsworth which we were very happy with at the time. Best of luck, 'hope that your DD gets a place in your chosen school.

Ladies I own a retail business, it's not all it's cracked up to be Wink!

Decameron · 18/04/2012 16:56

It's such a small world, Portia, DD1 was down to go to the Roche until we moved here. I liked SPS too.

pickledsiblings · 18/04/2012 17:02

Marsha, is it that you want to see family? Why not meet them half way if so?

NSG and Decam, fingers etc crossed for you both.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2012 17:12

Thank you Pickled!

We did think of that, some island resort half way to Aus. Just asked dh and he says he would prefer Aus. Actually I think I would too. We're not a very resort-y family (we've decided. My parents less so) but prefer a big villa and restaurants. I've been to Port Douglas so feel rather safe in that choice.

Well it helped because at least dh said no to island, prefers Aus. It's a step in right direction.

Does anyone else have a dh that prefers to stay home? He is happy here in London, but I do like a nice change in (world) scenery.

MarshaBrady · 18/04/2012 17:31

Also dh is a saint for coming so many times. I wouldn't to see his family. A nice holiday destination helps. The again I dislike saying good bye at the airport.

Yes to many of you doing a style thing. You'd be very good.

Hopefully · 18/04/2012 17:34

Early signs are good for the Me & Em - still a nice dark olive colour after a round in the washing machine. Drying on the radiator now...

alwaysrunninginheels · 18/04/2012 17:58

Wow what a lovely thread to read. MN seems to have many judgemental threads but here you work together. Fab. It's nice to hear people talking about the work/sahm/ going back to work. But had to say russianred rule out nothing. 3 years ago I was hopeless on the computer(em apart from shopping) and now I run a business with one. Seriously the people who know me well realise this is close to a miracle but it seems I manage. With a few minor panics along the way. But everyone gets paid and the accountant seems to think its well run. Would much rather have a job shopping though....

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2012 18:04

Well I hobbled to boots and I am thrilled to confirm I am... NOT pregnant! Phew! No divorce in the Nectarine household this month (plus I've ebayed all my Isabella Oliver)

pickledsiblings · 18/04/2012 18:14

Result Amber Smile. We'd have been here for you either way.

pickledsiblings · 18/04/2012 18:18

always, well done you! Do you work from home? That's part of the beauty of working with computers.

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2012 18:24

Ah, I know pickled, but this means I can drink at next MU...

Fleecy · 18/04/2012 18:27

Glad you've got your priorities sorted amber - made me smile!

Hopefully · 18/04/2012 18:27

How tragic would it have been to re-buy all the IO? Glad you're not up the duff (assuming you are glad you're not up the duff, that is).

For anyone too broke budget conscious to fork out for a Violet Lake bikini, I am really pleased with the shape of the M&S bikini top and bottoms I bought the other day. I am sure the people of Dartmouth will be most impressed when we go on our summer holiday.
