Space nk make up

Going today for make up consultation. It's my birthday and my mum has offered to pay £60 towards new cosmetics.

Make over is free- are they any good at doing make up? Know they do Laura Mercier but anyone know any other ranges they stock? Really need new foundation & hopefully want to look younger & fresher with make up overhaul!

Any recommendations? Know they are top end cosmetics & only want to pay these prices if products are good!

My absolute favourite apart from Laura Mercier is By Terry - a great range, if pricy. I think they are well worth the price, thpough obviously these things are very individual. Chantecaille is nice too. They also stock several other brands, including Nars. You can browse them on their website.

I'm a great Space NK fan and have always found the staff there helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoy.

Laura mercier, good make up colours
Stila is a bit crap IMO
Chantaillce does excellent foundation with lots of good matching for pale types

I get stuff for the bath or shower from there and diptyqe candles
They do good brushes but you can get the same from ebay

I love By Terry too, particularly the foundation and lash conditioning mascara. The rose face cream is brilliant too as is the lip balm which lasts forever and gives a lovely sheen. Nars blushers are great (I like Gaiety) and their Laguna bronzer is fantastic. The Nars matt lip crayons are my favourite lipstick. Have fun!

A makeover entirely depends on the skill of the individual doing it. I have had one at spaceNK and it was actually brilliant - the only makeover I've ever had that actually changed what I put on my face and how I was doing it. She showed me, for example, that if you put navy blue eyeliner just inside your top lashes, it really makes blue eyes stand out. She introduced me to a smoky plum eyeshadow that I would never have picked out but has become my all-time favourite (now discontinued Angry). But she was a really senior visiting person from Laura Mercier, rather than one of the regular shop assistants.

I agree with others that By Terry is a fantastic range. Love their liquid blush as well. Chantecaille does wonderful tinted moisturiser that costs a packet but is a great treat. Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is an old favourite and I also like their primer.

They have some nice bath/body ranges, including Aromatherapy Associates and spaceNK own brand.

You will have a lovely time and come out much poorer, I promise you Smile

Chantecaille does an amazing tinted moisturiser. Great if you already have quite good skin. Expensive but you don't need to use much. Mine has lasted me over 3 years, but i don't use it every day.

The By Terry eyeliners are a work of wonder.

Thanks for all the responses. V excited. Do you think Laura Mercier or By Terry is the best foundation. 37ish combination skin with increasing fine lines by the days. Very pale, freckly skin. Want daytime mainly. Currently use E. Lauder double wear light but want something less heavy for summer.

No such thing as the best foundation.
There's the best foundation for you. Ask for a sample, take home some and never buy on the spot.
The good thing about SpaceNK is that they have lots of good ranges, perfect for pick and mix.
have fun shopping.

anniewoo · 10/04/2012 12:42

By Terry - Terry is the lady behind ysl's touche eclat so her own concealer is probably even better!
Chantecaille lovely but so expensive -why??
Lipstick Queen
Lovely perfumes/scents not found on the High Street

polyhymnia · 10/04/2012 13:13

I like both Laura M and By Terry tinted moisturisers. Agree with coffee, you really need to try both and see what works better on you. That's the good thing about Space NK - you can try different ranges.

With a new tinted moisturiser, I often even go outside in the daylight and take a look in my hand mirror before deciding finally. They always seem quite relaxed about this.
