Yes in my experience it happens a lot with their's. I like nails inc but I've heard good things about opi and essie.

brumblebee · 07/04/2012 23:27

Mine too. They need serious topcoat to keep them in place. Rimmel Nail Rescue seems to do the trick.

Same here with chanel - beautiful shades and looks lovely when you first do it but chips so easily! I've found essie and, surprisingly, boots 17, have better staying power.

Catsmamma · 08/04/2012 19:20

Shake the bottle...shake it like your life depended on it....shake it till your hand is fit to drop off and then swap hands and shake it some more.

Probably nonsense, but I am sure it helps.

RichTeaAreCrap · 08/04/2012 19:33

I stopped using it because of this. It always chips. I use base and top coat but it makes no difference. Recently I tried it again because I liked one of the shades hoping it would be better now. It isn't.

OPI and Essie are so much better than Chanel in terms of staying power. A lot cheaper too.

Another one who has sadly decided I need to move away from the lovely Chanel colours... The gorgeous dark blue I got for Christmas lasts barely 24 hours Sad. I've currently got Vendetta on it's 2nd full day but that's after spending all Easter Sunday afternoon doing base coat, 2x colour coats, 1x glitter (hides the chips!) and a top coat - no way can I sustain that level of maintenance, plus I don't always want glittery nails! I'm planning to go for OPI in the future as I've had good results with that before.

polyhymnia · 10/04/2012 10:33

Agree with everyone else. Have been tempted by Chanel colours, but quality - both for ease of application and for lasting -nothing like my usual brands, Essie and Jessica (OPI are also good).

NanAstley · 10/04/2012 11:00

With a very very heavy heart, I have had to accept the fact that Chanel nail polishes are, to put it bluntly, crap. Which is a crying shame, as they have such gorgeous shades. I love the way they look when first applied, but they never last longer than 12 hours on my nails. And because the colours are so vibrant, the smallest chip SHOWS.

I rate NARS nail polishes, Nails Inc, and (surprisingly) Rimmel. And they are all a good sight cheaper than Chanel too Shock

NanAstley · 10/04/2012 11:02

I love Chanel lipsticks though. I sometimes wear them at home, just to cheer myself up. So soft and creamy, and lasts for ages.

Chanel foundation - crap (I have Asian colouring)
Chanel nail polish - crap
Chanel eye shadow - also crap (they always shift and give me the bruised-eye effect in a matter of hours. Urban Decay is totes fab)

fluffiphlox · 10/04/2012 11:48

I use OPI generally. I find them quite long lasting. I have 1 Chanel polish Rouge Noir which I find doesn't chip too badly provided:
You shake it well
Let it dry unmolested for ages (40mins)
