What do you do with your body?

I've been a bit overweight (2-3 stone actually) for ages.

I'm just starting to battle the bulge and am losing with WW. Only 5lbs down so far but feeling positive and starting to notice a difference.

I haven't done anything to my body for so long, completely neglected it. Apart from shaving I do nothing.

I bought an aveeno moisturiser to make a start. Think I need one of those soap and glory foot scraper thingies too. I do moisturise my hands as I have very dry skin.

What else should I be doing? I've heard talk of dry brushing! Should I buy some bio oil?

Advice needed please.

going for a massage might be good. always makes me feel 'my body is a temple' for a while after one which could be a nice kickstart for you.

oh and a pedi - either salon one or diy. i always have polish on my toenails, kind of makes me feel more groomed all over somehow.

Firstly - congratulations on your weight loss and wishing you continued success :)

Yes to daily application of body lotion. Pedi also excellent idea.

Keeping fingernails filed (polish optional) & hands moisturised.
Dry brushing is a great thing to do - it helps get the lymphatic system working and exfoliates the skin both of which leave the skin looking smoother. Just do it for a few minutes before your shower or bath. Long strokes towards the heart.
Tweezing of brows (or salon wax/thread if you prefer).

I tend to either do these things whilst DC in bath or have a sunday evening pamper ritual where I have a lovely long soak in bath, slather on hair treatment and wrap hair in towel, then sit and watch a dvd whilst I do nails, rinsing my hair before going to bed.

Please don't buy Bio Oil. It is made with mineral oil - a by-product of the petrol industry. The body cannot make use of mineral oil - it just sits on the surface of the skin. Plant, nut & seed oils are absorbed by the skin and are therefore nourishing. Much better to use a simple grapeseed or sunflower base oil (try Sally Salon Supplies or Neals Yard Remedies). You can then add essential oils to it.

Wow, well done on your weight loss!!

Here's what I do regularly:
Haircut - 2 monthly
Eyebrow wax - monthly
Cleanse, tone, moisturise my face - daily
Shave legs and armpits - every 2 days
Hollywood wax - monthly
Gel nails - fortnightly
Exfoliate in the shower using exfoliating gloves (49p from Wilkinsons) - every 2 days
Moisturise my whole body - daily
Now that summer is in its way I'll start doing something with my feet, pedicure every few weeks.
St Tropez - as and when needed
Shred!!! - daily. This had made such a difference to the tone of my body, my energy levels and my mood.

That's all I can think of for now.

Wow, I need to get more high maintenance!

Well shred is out for a while unfortunately as my knee is knackered after a knee op. though I'll bear it in mind for if and when I recover.

Moisturise my whole body, daily? Wow I have years to catch up on.
Will steer clear of bio oil then. A cheaper and more natural alternative appeals.
Dry brushing, I'll give it a go.

Gosh, seems weird to start paying attention to my body after years of avoiding it.
