Medium coverage foundation?

Hi! Just wondering if you can advise me of some good foundation?
I am v pale and my skin is not great. My usual foundation is feeling pretty rubbish. I need something with more coverage. I have a No7 one that is in a pot and covers sooo well but it's too heavy to wear during the day.

Any ideas?

I think it probably depends on how much you want to pay for it, roughtyping. I know that some people are very impressed by the Bourjois foundations, if you're looking for a less expensive one. I'm very pale and unfortunately I find them too yellow for me.

I am,however, a foundation whore and at the moment I'm using Giorgio Armani Silk thingy in shade 3 but I also have Dior Skin Nude, a Make Up Forever HD foundation and Illamasqua Skin Base ( some of the Illamasqua shades were way too pale even for me - I was well impressed ) - all of them give a nice, natural coverage - not too sheer, not too mask-y ( looking at you,Estée Lauder Double wear ) with the Illasmasqua giving the most coverage, I'd say. Sorry if my suggestions are too dear but I've never been able to find a decent pale but cheap foundation.

Thanks for your reply :)

Bought some Bourjois foundation yesterday, called Flower Perfection but yet to use it as I'm just bumming about the house today..! Will try it later. It has a little chart on the side that gives it 3/3 for coverage so we'll see.

You're right, it is very tricky to find foundation the right shade that gives decent coverage. Illamasqua, I've only ever tried their nail polishes - will need to have a look. I do love their stuff, it all looks sooo pretty!

For day to day I tend to use a Clinique foundation which is a lovely shade, nice and light but not enough coverage, or a No17 foundation with SPF which gives good coverage but doesn't last very long... argh!

Max Factor miracle touch is my latest find. I love it, and I have all sorts of others, from cheap to expensive, creams to minerals.

Estée Lauder double wear or double wear light are both brilliant.

Msarsebiscuit · 05/04/2012 18:50

No problem, roughtyping, the Illamasqua one is very nice but I do chop and change a lot , the Armani being my current favourite as I delude myself that the slight dewiness makes me look less like a wizened old crone.
I used to buy Shiseido foundation as they have good colours for pale skin so you could always look at their range.
( I've recently bought Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin malarkey as it's rated as a cult product - verdict so far - a bit meh )

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Have tried the Bourjois one earlier on, it's v good coverage, a little bit dark though but can live with it for now - it's not noticeable except to me... Can't comment on how long it lasts though.

Will need to go and research all of these. Thanks very much!

Double wear light is good. Double wear is very thick and heavy. I can't afford dwl anymore so bought maybelline dream satin and it's great. Don't wear foundation very often though.

Another foundation ho'er checking in.

Jut swapped from my usual Clarins Instant Smooth (dippy pot moussey-cream) to Dior Forever fusion something-or-other. T'is very nice and satiny. Not too heavy, you can build up coverage.

I've ordered (am abroad) Bourjois Health Mix because MN made me. Grin

Msarsebiscuit · 06/04/2012 09:15

Bucharest, I'm glad I'm not the only foundation whore ( Fo Ho ? ) around, might have a look at the Dior Fusion malarkey- I think HavingKittens reccommended it a few weeks back.
Tested the Bourjois Healthy Mix after hearing so many good things about it - I looked like a banana with jaundice, same with the Chanel foundations, curse my anaemic Celtic genes.

Bucharest · 06/04/2012 10:04

Oh dear. I am mozzarella coloured so maybe the Health Mix won't be good on me when it arrives either!

ameliagrey · 06/04/2012 11:39

Don't forget Bobbi Brwon- the only one I've found where I don't need the palest shade- I'm Porcelain not Alabaster. You could have a look at their stick foundation.

Also Clarins do a pale shade- Ivory- and they have some oil-free heavier cover ones.

PippiL · 06/04/2012 11:42

I use no. 7 essentially natural in cool shell. I can't spend a lot and have found it way better than the bourjeois and max factors in the mid price range.

gregssausageroll · 06/04/2012 13:41

Double wear probably won't come light enough. I am very pale too and they are not light enough for me.
