The best home dye to achieve a natural looking auburn colour?

So my hair is quite coppery now anyway, i've used the loreal feria Mango, intense copper twice now and the first time i loved it and it gently faded to a really nice auburny colour, however, when applied the last time (about a week ago), it looks a bit too 'artificial' if you know what i mean? kinda too orangey at the roots and a bit too reddy towards the lengths and ends, where as i'm trying to achieve a more natural gingery/auburn look. But, i don't want to any darker.

I suppose i could just wait and see if it fades again over time. But i'm wondering when it comes to colouring my hair again, ( i have one or two greys sprouting through) what shade and brand should i chose. The daft thing about this is that i am a natural redhead - although have been colouring my hair for the best part of 20+ years and now i'd do anything to have my natural colour back!

I've yet to find one so I will be watching with interest!

i use clairol 110 "natural light auburn" its ok but not great. I have quite light hair anyway so it comes out quite light on me (probably strawberry blonde underneath 10 yrs of dying), but would prefer a lighter natural auburn if anyone knows of one
i keep pondering henna but havent tried it yet.

I've just got Clairol molten lava from the 99p shop rushes back to stock up think I have finally found the auburn shade I've been searching for...

on me, more gingery auburny rather than the deep reddy..my hair was dark purplish and this has covered greys and lightened it. v happy!

My hair is dark brown so I can't comment on the auburn bit, but I've just used the Avon hair dye for the first time and it's really good, lovely natural colour and my hair feels in really good condition. Good price too. You can buy on line if you don't have an Avon lady near you.

i was surprised it stripped out my Schwarzkopf mystic purple dye, but it did

Praline casting crime gloss is nice. It's a semi, so perhaps not suitable?

I used Clairol Perfect 10 in Dark Auburn for years, but have recently sworn off dyeing my hair altogether because of what it was doing to the condition. Wish I had naturally red hair! Mine is light ash brown kinda colour. It's going to take about 2 years to grow out but I'm sticking with it. However, I had really good results with perfect 10, so link here. :)
