Most Flattering Dress Ever!

I just wanted to share how much I love my LK Bennett Davina dress Grin

It's so flattering (I'm a size 10 all arse, no boobs) and best of all, many of the colours are on sale at the moment. I've just ordered a second one in "New Navy" (I've also got it in Magenta).

Wearing it makes me feel like a 40s/50s film star, I'd wear it all the time if I could!

Dorothy Perkins (my new fave cheaper shop) was doing a cheaper version of davina - worth looking out for.

doctordwt · 03/04/2012 20:34

Ooh thanks noddy. Hmm sounds like a goodun! Jenski -you could try going for it with sharp accessories, pillbox hat?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/04/2012 20:36

Yes, I had a similar one for about £20 from Dorothy P's just before Christmas. Was quite a thick jersey, might be a bit hot for summer.

formerdiva · 03/04/2012 20:42

Ooh - is the Davina dress good for hiding a massive tummy?

SwedishEdith · 03/04/2012 20:47

Don't you need skinny arms for a dress like that? Way overpriced though

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/04/2012 21:01

I don't think it is overpriced for 100% wool. All of the cheaper versions will be polyester.

ifancyashandy · 03/04/2012 21:05

I can totally see that it's flattering but don't you think it's a bit.... umm... boring? And that style is everywhere and a bit ubiquitous now? A bit Mama Middleton?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/04/2012 21:06

If I worked I think its actually a perfect work dress. Flattering but professional.

MsNorbury · 03/04/2012 21:29

Far too ritzy for my work!

No for fat tums. Makes arms super slim

suntodayplease · 04/04/2012 20:39

Bought this today in navy, absolutely love it, I'm 5ft9 and normally struggle with length on dresses but this fits perfectly. I'm planning on wearing it to a couple of events this year including weddings. Any suggestions for shoe/bag colours to go with it for the weddings?
Thanks

CointreauVersial · 04/04/2012 20:47

I covet the Davina dress, it is gorgeous, but I cannot think of an occasion when I would wear it. It is too posh for work (engineering company), and still a bit ££, even in the sale. But lovely nevertheless.

Noddy, I like yours! Right up my street. Not too short??

CointreauVersial · 04/04/2012 20:48

Forgot to say, ASOS also did a Davina knock-off tribute, about £45, I think.

noddyholder · 04/04/2012 20:50

No cv but i am only 5'5 It is a short dress but no mini

JasperJohns · 04/04/2012 20:54

I lurve Noddy's Mango dress.

CaveMum · 04/04/2012 20:57

suntoday with the navy dress I'd, personally, go with red shoes/bag. I was told under no circumstances to accessorise navy clothes with black shoes!

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 04/04/2012 22:52

Navy looks nice with beige/tan/neutral shoes and bag.

drywhiteplease · 04/04/2012 23:06

CaveMum

supernannyisace · 04/04/2012 23:09

Now that is a lovely dress.

However, am waiting on my £1.99 H & M item...Grin

The red is my favourite. but don'thave any special events planned. ):

HazleNutt · 04/04/2012 23:28

I have it in 2 colours already and will buy more. Very flattering indeed. Wish it came with sleeves though..

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 05/04/2012 09:57

Agree that neutrals are better than red with navy. Red and navy looks a bit trolley dolly IMO. Lime green is also good.

CaveMum · 05/04/2012 10:15

Ah Clarice, might the trolley dolly outfit get me a job at MJN Air? Wink

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 05/04/2012 10:38

I dunno, CaveMum; wouldn't you be putting Arthur out of a job? Smile

And how are your Travelling Lemon skills?

CaveMum · 05/04/2012 11:08

Grin I listened to Qikiqtarjuaq (yes I had to Google it!) last night. Anyway, Arthur's not paid so he can carry on serving passengers while I, ahem, look after Martin Wink

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 05/04/2012 11:11

Who says they're going to pay you either? Or would simply working with Captain Crieff be enough?

CaveMum · 05/04/2012 11:24
Grin

Need I say more!
