I am BORED of my hair, but it's wavy/curly so i don't have many options (refuse to straighten daily as spend all my time running scared of humidity and rain)... I have done shortish and don't want to lose length again so am thinking about getting a fringe... what do you think of long side sweepy fringes on people with wavy hair?

I can't find a picture of exactly what i'm talking about but think loose curls, shoulder lenght..

I love side sweepy fringes!
I think they suit everyone and are flattering!

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 03/04/2012 17:19

I think they look daft because people spend all their time pushing them out of their eyes - but I have one anyway because it was the easiest way of growing my straight fringe out!

pinktrees · 03/04/2012 17:20

I also think they are a bit bizarre. Because the style is defying gravity, it has to be constantly adjusted.

AdornMeWithSparkle · 03/04/2012 17:22

I like 'em.
I asked for one at my last haircut but she left it too long so now it's just a bit of hair that I keep behind my ear.
Keep being tempted to chop it shorter myself.

Panzee · 03/04/2012 17:23

I had one for a while but it started to go a bit Hitler, so I had it cut into a proper one.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 03/04/2012 17:24

How do you keep them out of your eyes?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/04/2012 17:26

I've got one and it never gets in my eyes as is longer I guess.

I like them a lot - flattering and look good when hair tied back too.

maybenow · 03/04/2012 17:32

yes, to the tied back thing... i HATE having all my hair tied back off my face, looks terrible on me, but sometimes needs must for practicality...

If its gets in the way just clip it to the side. Still looks pretty but is practical! Same when its down.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 03/04/2012 18:41

fringe definitions confuse me. do you mean the type that are quite long and only held in place by magic and will power or the type that are a bit longer than a straight fringe and just styled to the side (like mine, see pics)?

both are nice but the former seem tricky to me

unimaginativename · 03/04/2012 18:53

I have curly hair too, and really want a fringe, I saw a girl recently with curly hair and a side sweepy fringe and it looked lovely. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to take the plunge though.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/04/2012 18:55

I have a side sleepy fringe that is nose length. Love it and can do lots with it.

Spookey80 · 03/04/2012 20:15

This is quite funny because I have decided to grow out my side sleepy fringe, because sometimes it does what it's supposed to and sometimes it doesn't. A lot of the time it's in the styling. But I do like them on other people and it is good for wearing hair up. Go for it you can always grow it out or clip it back until it grows again.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 03/04/2012 20:17

Have one and luuurve it Smile

Pinkflipflop · 03/04/2012 20:21

Love them but if you hair is wavy or curly it will be a nightmare to manage.

HandMini · 03/04/2012 20:39

Love them, but dont be afraid to twist 'n clip to get it out of eyes if you're doing something practical or want to look more professional. I have quite a long side sweep fringe because I need to look smart for work and I think they don't, so need to clip it back

maybenow · 03/04/2012 20:49

Seasonofthewitch - i like yours a lot but i couldn't have mine that short because of the curl.
pinkflipflop - it IS tricky with a curl but i think that a looooong sweepy one is probably the most manageable option..

i'm thinking about starting with it the length that if i grew it six weeks it'd be back to being just about tuckable.. if i like it i can think about going shorter next time.
