Please help find a fashionable outfit for a 30 year old, size 14, apple shape!

I am going out for my best friend's 30th. Normally I don't stress about my outfit when we go out as I know what clothes suit my shape and dress accordingly. Also, my best friend doesn't give two hoots what I wear!

However, this night out is with a bunch of achingly fashionable friends from uni who I haven't seen in 18 months. They are all 29 or 30, all childless, live in London with good jobs, and dress in the latest styles.

I am thinking in my head I want to dress like Caroline Flack- short playsuit, blazer, shoe boots. Can a size14 apple pull this off? If so, which shops shall I be looking in? If not, any fashionable alternatives? Oh, and I have flabby arms which I never wear uncovered, and a pretty dire cesarean over hang which prevents me wearing anything tight.

Please help!!

Anyone? Or am I actually too old and dumpy to be fashionable now?!

WHat about tailored shorts with opaques and shoe boots and a blouse with sleeves on your top half? Try Top shop or Zara and you wont go wrong

I'll have a look on the websites thanks. What length tailored shorts are you thinking of? My legs aren't too bad.

www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=4913129&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=432256&parent_categoryId=226988&pageSize=20 is this any good? I just think from the reviews it suits most shapes and figures. Far away from Caroline thingymabob but worth a punt? I have it and love it!

Sorry, just read your post properly and realised you definitely want the shorts, blazer combo! Ignore me!

Gillybobs · 03/04/2012 19:39

Id say short but not as short as hotpants Grin

cup, I feel your pain but honestly, you are so gorgeous - I lurk on your thread, and obsessively check your profile for picture updates. you don't even look 20, let alone 30.

you will look fab whatever you wear - i cannot believe how amazing you look in your recent pictures, and you had a baby, what 4 months ago?

Pinkflipflop that's a pretty dress! But I would look like a burnt sausage in it, seriously I have no waist to nip in like the dress does.

Silverfrog Thank you but you are being faaaar too kind! (Also, don't tell anyone, but I gave birth nearly 7 months ago, so I guess excuses about baby fat are no longer acceptable Wink)
