Summer in a City office

I need some lightweight dresses for work for the summer. Think HO of a big bank. Very power dressing.

The Tube is going to be a sweaty nightmare, and the office has arctic air-con, so I need to be able to slip a jacket over them.

Plus they need to be washable. I'll be buggered before I spend £100+ on dry-clean only shite that costs £10 a wear to clean. My cleaning bills would be £50 a week! (Hobbs, what are you thinking? Bloody test-wash your work dresses!)

I bought this recently. Haven't worn it to work yet but I'm very pleased with it. Cotton/silk blend and machine-washable, and above the knee enough not to look frumpy while still being modest. It's very neat-looking and smart, and could go with either a jacket over the top or, in different seasons/environments, a chunky cardie on top or a light layer underneath.

Oh thank you Lady Clarice. I have ordered that - it's a bargain!

Any other suggestions gratefully received...

Uniqlo have some good silk tees in atm that would look good with a pencil skirt. I used to wear lots of silk on way to work & put on suit jacket in air conned office. Had a brief glance at Banana Republic earlier which may be worth a look.
