Soap and glory hand cream. Amazing. Also try hemp from body shop

drywhiteplease · 02/04/2012 23:03

Second body shop hemp.....as good as more pricey, but lovely smelling, l'Occitane stuff.

Valpollicella · 02/04/2012 23:03

Aha. Yes, hemp. I'd forgotten about that. Thanks Bonkerz - will get some tomorrow

Aveda Hand Relief [fnarrr]

Valpollicella · 02/04/2012 23:04

Right now cost isn't a problem as I could probably fine sand a piece of wood with the backs of my hands....and the bleeding cracks are jst ugh.

Arf at Hand Relief.

Is it 'spensive? Worth it for the smooth happy finish?

Lush Helping Hands. Doesn't smell like most Lush things (if that normally puts you off) and a small tub lasts ages. Can take a while to soak in though...

Valpollicella · 02/04/2012 23:08

Lots of good suggestions - thank you all

I think it's about £14, but 'tis divine.

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 02/04/2012 23:10

I bought some Neutrogena concentrated hand cream on Sunday (the unscented one) as I had dried cracked lizard hands and was at the stage where my knuckles were bleeding.

Have used it a couple of times and my hands are non-cracked and smooth already. They look normal after weeks and weeks of being scaly and red. I'm really surprised, and it wasn't expensive.

Soap and Glory or Diprobase type things from GP.

franticallyjugglinglife · 02/04/2012 23:14

L'Occitane 20% Shea butter. It is the business, and I swear by it... and their foot cream fwiw!

stripeyZ · 02/04/2012 23:19

I second the neutrogena concentrate hand cream. It's nourishing & sinks in well. It's was recommended by my dermatologist for cracked/dry skin.

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/04/2012 23:19

Was just about to post L'Occitane but Frantic beat me to it. My hands are like wrinkled sandpaper and that stuff makes them sooooo soft.

HettyKett · 02/04/2012 23:19

yy, when they are that bad you need the Neutrogena Norwegen Formula concentrated stuff MrsPles used. Body Shop hemp stuff is lovely once they're back to some semblance of humanity.

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 02/04/2012 23:37

I use Norwegen Formula every day before I leave for work- rub some in, put gloves on, by the time I get to work it's all soaked in and lovely. The best cheap cream I've found in Superdrug Hand Therapy Balm- not the creams, they are ok but the balm is cheap and really lovely. L'Occitane shea butter hand cream is great for overnight. The Bodyshop hemp one is so thick and such a nice texture but the smell, urgh, puts me off. I really, really suffer with my hands so have tried many! Most recent purchace was the new anti-bac hand cream, I think it's Nivea, in an attempt to need to wash my hands less during the day! It's a light cream, not intense, but am hoping if I can cut handwashing by half maybe I'll see a difference!

I also tried Waitrose baby bottom butter on my hands before I washed up with gloves on, was still sticky when I'd done! Felt nice and moisturised!

Valpollicella · 02/04/2012 23:43

I think I'm going to have to stick a pin in this thread tomorrow Grin

Thank you all. Good to hear I'm not the only part lizard woman out there.

That concentrated neutrogena one is very, very good, and dead cheap. Good value so you can get a few of them to keep
in handbags or beside sinks. I got some Aveeno hand cream in Semichem today for £2.99, I love their stuff so I have high hopes!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 03/04/2012 00:04

Flexitol heel balm, or the Norwegian fisherman one.

trixymalixy · 03/04/2012 00:08

Neutrogena

LakeFlyPie · 03/04/2012 00:11

I work in a hospital and have 2 DC under 4 so my hands are usually somewhere between lizard and sandpaper.
I used to swear by 8 hour hand cream but now my vote is with the considerably cheaper Aveeno

I try to have a tube of cream in every bag and in the car as very frequent application is key IMHO.
I always look out for hand creams in pound / 'cheap' shops as quantity is possibly more important than quality, although do try and use a richer one overnight or when I know I won't be washing it off for a while at least 5 mins

There is an amazing formulation available at work ATM, comes in a pump dispenser, is really light, softens skin brilliantly and forms a silky, lasting layer yet is silicone free.
Will try very hard to remember to look at the name of it on weds and report back Smile

Prolesworth · 03/04/2012 00:13

My (non-greasy - can't bear greasy hand cream) favourites are Aveeno, Crabtree and Evelyn Gardeners Hand Therapy, Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment, Mitchell's Wool Fat Hand Lotion. If I had to pick one it'd be Aveeno though.

EllenParsons · 03/04/2012 00:25

Body Shop almond oil

anniewoo · 03/04/2012 00:42

I was disappointed with l'occitane. I'll try the Aveda. Neutrogena foot cream great for hands but very greasy for night time ure only.
