I've been going through the same thing with my hands and I've been using olive oil once a day and DS's Oulatum Junior cream. Hands have never been so soft!!

BusyBee86 · 03/04/2012 08:03

Aveeno is THE BEST. Instantly makes your hands better. The pharmacist told me to use this one (had really sore dry hands) and it really is great.

Tisserand essential oil formula. Addictive smell.
I hate faffing with hand cream but this one- I get through tubes and tubes. About £7 from ebay or garden centre-type places.
Aveeno is the dog'sbollocks for everything but doesn't smell. I like a good scent.

whitelillies · 03/04/2012 08:10

Same here I work in a hosp and have dc s
I always have a tube of l occitaine in my handbag
8 hour for when I m sore or they re cracked is good too but the very very best is origins hand cream - not sure it comes in a handbag size tune though - I got it as a gift some time ago and mt hands were so sore and chapped - I had run out of everything else and. Started using this and it healed them up quicker than anything else - the results lasted too. I now use it everyday - it s wonderful

I second the Clarins and Kiehls recommendations. Also the Boots No. 7 "Protect and Perfect" is good and not greasy at all.

woollyideas · 03/04/2012 08:27

Dr Organic No nasty parabens and only £5.69! Honestly, I have the Soap and Glory one, the Clarins one, but this is much richer and has a lovely smell.

peggyblackett · 03/04/2012 08:30

Rubbing Bio Oil in at bedtime works absolute wonders.

littledolly · 03/04/2012 08:35

Diprobase from the doctor if your hands are really bad. Other than that, my friend bought me the Protect & Perfect Intense hand cream last week and I've been using it ever since - I actually don't recognise my own hands at the moment. They have gone from being like sandpaper to silky smooth in just a few days! You only need a tiny bit each time though........

Chateauneuf · 03/04/2012 08:37

Loads of neutrogena slathered on last thing at night and then sleep in gloves (or socks over your hands does the same job if you haven't any suitable gloves).

ameliagrey · 03/04/2012 09:20

I've got loads- from cheapo Atrixo to Dipityque that's £24- a gift.

I like neutrogena and atrixo. Clarins is okay and so is Jurlesque- but too ££ imo excpet as a pressie. Find LOccitaine a bit sticky.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 03/04/2012 09:26

I'd recommend Dr Organic too, but I like the olive oil one. It's not very highly fragranced, rich but not horribly sticky. It's often on special offer at Holland & Barrett as well.

anniewoo · 03/04/2012 09:29

I think Clarins is very over rated. Smells lovely though.

strawberrypenguin · 03/04/2012 09:40

Not strictly handcream but Johnsons baby naturals nourishing lotion is amazing. Never known another moisturiser to work as well as this

Pinot · 03/04/2012 09:44

L'Occitane 100% Shea Butter.

Just that. All others may kiss it's shoes.

HipHopOpotomus · 03/04/2012 09:55

Penhaligans
This actually makes my brittle bitten stumpy nails grow & be strong (when nothing else ever has) as well as keep hands soft. It light & silky to apply yet it absorbs quickly and leaves no residue and goes a long way. In my eyes it is perfection.

MousyMouse · 03/04/2012 09:58

weleda skin food
I have eczema on my hands and that helps me enormously

porcamiseria · 03/04/2012 10:53

waitrpose baby bottom butter , or nipple cream!

supernannyisace · 03/04/2012 10:59

The L'Occitane Shea Butter - or Body Shop Hemp.

Greedypiggy · 03/04/2012 11:10

I really like the Aveeno too. I had horribly cracked and bleeding knuckles when DD was a baby, all that frequent handwashing, and it sorted them out in no time. It also lasts through handwashing, I think it says that on the tube. For everyday use, I really like the body shop almond one, I'm a sucker for nice smells.

MousyMouse · 03/04/2012 11:28

oh, and using a bar of soap instead of liquid soap made a massive difference.

cronsilksilt · 03/04/2012 11:45

body shop hemp
I can't be without it.

anniewoo · 04/04/2012 08:39

Slathered on the L'occitane Shea butter handcream the last couple of nights. Not good result. Hands are dry (as usual). I bought Aveeno and will also try Aveda. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Footcream yucky, sticky horrible BUT IT WORKS for dry, wrinkly Hands ( and feet)
