Coloured jeans - ever to be avoided???

polyhymnia · 02/04/2012 18:11

Thinking of joining in on the coloured jeans trend just for a chnage, but wondering if I should.

Am one of the more mature S and B enthusiasts but don't think there are many trends age automatically rules out.

Am also large, but tall and hourglass with long slim legs, so would get skinny ankle length coloured jeans if I got any at all. In bright blue, not red or pink. And wear with simple tops/tuics, eg Breton, plain colors and ballerinas/ boat shoes.

Does anyone think this sounds like a complete no no? I know of course that there are some trends that some people are better off sitting out!

I think it sounds great. I am 46 and wear them Smile

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2012 18:19

I think you will look fab in them.

I'm short so wear mine with my hasbeens and am rather loving either a cotton voile shirt or broderie anglaise top at the moment with mine.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 02/04/2012 18:20

As you are not wearing pink, yes should be fine. The M&S salmon pink per una ones should however be outlawed (along with most of per una actuall)

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2012 18:20

And I am nearly 40 apparently.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2012 18:21

I've got bright pink, lavender and bright blue oh and muted red. Quite a lot really Blush

Bonsoir · 02/04/2012 18:22

I'm not planning on wearing coloured jeans this season (though, who knows, plans may change...) because every teenaged girl in Paris is wearing red jeans, or green jeans, or yellow jeans, right now, and I don't want to look exactly the same as every teen! But I think it's a fun trend and if you want to, why not? It's a pretty harmless and easy trend.

bigpants103 · 02/04/2012 18:47

A colour to be avoided is the peachy ones. At first glance to look naked from the waist down. Also unless you are very slim, I think they make legs look like uncooked sausages.

Agree though, they can look nice on anyone as long as they fit properly.

I've got raspberry and a colbolt blue and love them.

Did see Keith Lemon was wearing a raspberry pair on tv last week but not letting that put me off!!!

bigpants103 · 02/04/2012 18:48

YOU look naked not to

MsNorbury · 02/04/2012 22:18

I'm
Bored if them and it's not even summer.

ifancyashandy · 02/04/2012 22:26

I have pale blue, hot pink, colbalt blue, red (waxed), pale pink, pale yellow (both also waxed) and salmon pink (trousers, not jeans). Oh, and snake print!

Am 42.

noddyholder · 02/04/2012 23:14

The only real jeans for summer are WHITE! Waits for teh annual ridicule Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/04/2012 07:55

I too love my white jeans - joins Noddy in the Liz Hurley appreciation society corner

Bonsoir · 03/04/2012 08:35

White jeans - and, indeed, other sorts of white trousers - are a summer staple.

daimbardiva · 03/04/2012 11:14

Just bought cobalt blue and was worried might look like wannabe c beebies presenter bury feeling reassured now!

polyhymnia · 03/04/2012 11:17

Thanks for all your comments - encouraged by them, have just ordered some cobalt ones.

I'm another white denim fan - always a staple for summer for me, though I don't remotely resemble Liz Hurley - and I'll be ordering a new pair of those too!

Just dug out an old pair of pale camel/chino coloured skinnies about 4 yrs old and they look quite nice. Am wearing today and they seem a good compromise if you don't want the full on colour

Millie1 · 03/04/2012 13:40

What colours is anyone putting with cobalt jeans/trousers? Am going shopping on Friday and thoughtvI might try some coloured jeans. Thanks.

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/04/2012 13:46

I like pale grey, navy, white but also saw someone with a jade green top and cobalt jeans and that looked really fab.

MissPB · 03/04/2012 13:48

i think in theory they sound lovely! May I ask where you are buying these lovely jeans?

stressheaderic · 03/04/2012 13:49

I wore an orange and white colour block t-shirt with my cobalt ones at the weekend. I thought it looked good.

polyhymnia · 03/04/2012 13:58

Have a black broderie anglaise top I'm hoping to try with mine, as well as the colours Mrs CB mentions.

Thanks all - good variety of colours then. Looking forward to some trying on at the weekend.

daimbardiva · 03/04/2012 16:00

Im planning wearing my cobalt blue jeans w a cream top w brown dots and sunshine yellow

Clure · 03/04/2012 16:07

Can you recommend where we might get some well fitting coloured jeans from? I think I may try some on though not sure will suit (5'1 but size 8 wrong side of 40) thanks!

OllieinOrange · 03/04/2012 16:15

Do coral jeans fall under the "peachy ones to be avoided"??? I would love some but driving myself nuts looking for the perfect coral ie not to pale and not too orange.

BTW - brought 2 pairs of the Primarni coloured skinnies last week - cobalt blue and red - seem a good fit and a great way to break myself into the coloured jeans thing without spending a lot. They were bargainous!
