La Senza

I have managed to free up a bit of cash and was about to spend it on some new underwear when I realised that I couldn't get on to the La Senza website because it is 'under construction.' Sad I generally pick up knickers on the 5 for £X thing, and now I feel at a bit of a loss.

Where do I go for adequate, cheap underwear?

Also, I am down to one, scabby, fraying bra after I very nearly shredded the last one. I think I am about a 34 FF, where do I get cheap bras from that will hold my massive norks in place? They don't have to be pretty or clever, just sturdy and cheap.

First off, go to Bravissimo, John Lewis or a local independent and get a proper bra fitting if you are unsure about your size. Please do not go to M&S as my cat would probably fit you more accurately. Take a note of what type of bras suit you - Bravissimo etc sell lots of brands, particularly Freya, Panache etc who are designed for larger busts. Some brands will suit better than others

Then, once you know, check out
brastop
Leia outlet section

and ebay of course - lots of last season stuff that is brand new.

also, if you have one nearby, go to Debenhams. I picked up 4 Freya bras for £9 each a couple of days ago as they had a huge 70% off rail. They have some online too.

Most people tend to wear a bra that is a bit too big in the back, and therefore too small in the cup so it is worth checking your size out. If you are in FF territory then it really isn't worth buying rubbish quality, a wee bit of hunting will turn up some bargains.

TBH there is nothing wrong with M&S bras as long as you know how to measure yourself and get the right size.

I thought I'd heard La Senza has gone into receivership? Have I made this up? Confused

scotsgirl23 · 02/04/2012 17:03

I think you are right puppymonkey.

Thank you for the links Grin I also thought LS had gone, but then saw the US website so thought perhaps I was mistaken.

There was a lovely little independent shop a few years ago, but it disappeared. I did once get measured in Debenhams and went through all thehumiliation, only to realise the buggers only measure back size Blush

I will save my pennies for a trip to Chester, I think for a fitting!

A good fitting is very worthwhile, it can make such a difference. There are some useful fitting tips on the Bravissimo website if you can't get a fitting soon, that show you what to look for when you try a bra on so you can tell if it fits well.

I hated La Senza's bras, but I am with you on missing their pants!

I went to Lincoln a couple of weeks ago and the La Senza shop was still there. I picked up lots of bras and knickers for next to nothing, msybe if you go into town they will still be selling off the last of their stock.

TwllBach · 02/04/2012 17:49

the nearest La Senza to me is probably Chester, which is about 2 hours from me as is the rest of civilisation

i got some nice knickers from TK MAX - but i think you might need to be there to rfile through the rails not sure I d order online from them.

La Senza went into liquidation but a few stores have been kept open and the co, was bought by someone else. I doubt if the web is up and running- or will be? Most of their stores ares still filled with sale stuff.

TwllBach · 03/04/2012 10:50

This is one of those times that I wish I lived in a proper town/city Grin there are no underwear shops closer than 23 miles from me, and the ones that are there are m and s and a debenhams. Debenhams don't do proper fittings and according to here, m and s don't do it very well.

I am not counting New Look as an underwear seller because their bras would no more fit me than a gnats bra.

i also heard that LaSenza have closed down most of their shops and i tried to buy from their website but it's "under construction".

Has anyone tried of heard of the new underewear shop Boux Avenue? i bought a new bra online from them 3 weeks ago and it fits me perfectly its so comfy and pretty too. Which is usually hard to find considering i'm a 38G!!

definately recommend a look at their website
