Thread vein removal - has anyone tried this?

Eggrules · 02/04/2012 14:01

Drastic times call for drastic measures... . My nose looks like Father Jack's (feck, girls, drink). I have an appointment for a text patch next week.

Anyone had thread veins removed?

I have discovered a thread vein on each side of my nose .... not good. If I have them at 25 what will I look like at 50!

I don't know how they remove them. Might be a laser zapper!

supernannyisace · 02/04/2012 17:29

I had a teeny weeny broken capillary on the tipof my nose. I had it lasered last year.

Only took one session as it was just a little round dot - about 3mm diameter. I paid £25 iirc.

It went a little redder straight afterwards, but over the course of a week or so faded and vanished.

I think thread veins may take a few sessions - and obv cost more, but I do know ofsomeone else who had that done and it was a great result.

Eggrules · 02/04/2012 19:56

blobtobetter It is a laser.

Thanks supernannyisace good to hear that at least 2 people have had positive results. Phew.

I have been told I need 4 sessions with 6 weeks in between. They have bothered me for many years and I will feel so much better when they are gone.

I had my first treatment today!

Eggrules · 02/04/2012 20:05

FashionEaster Shock

Please come back and tell me all about it.

I have a tester session booked next Friday and then I have a weekend away. Will I need a paper bag? How are you feeling?

It was fine, but am envious about the £25 cost!

I was booked into Dr Newmans but they cancelled with little notice. I much prefered the look of veinwave treatment.

So, with some reservations, booked IPL locally. Had two nasal thread veins done and surrounding redness under the nose and under the lamp she said she could see some smaller ones on my chin so zapped those as well. Stung a wee bit, with a mild sensation of heat, a bit like a gentle elastic band. Have to wear eye protection and she applied conductive gel and afterwards aloe vera.

Can't see any difference yet, tbh, so no need for the paper bag on exit, but she said the veins might look darker in the next few days. She reckons anything between 3-6 treatments all told (which if it's 6 makes the Dr Newman option cost wise look almost reasonable!) - have to leave 4-6 weeks in between.

Eggrules · 02/04/2012 20:38

Thanks for sharing. Thanks
I knew it would take four treatments but am gutted that there isn't at least a small difference instantly.

I have some industrial strength concealer. I have a holiday planned and am worried about tanning as I know this can cause pigmentation. I need some factor 50.

I would love to hear how you are getting on.

Sorry to say this but I wasted quite a bit of money on IPL for thread veins and it didn't make much difference. I hope you get better results than I did.

ggirltwin2pinot · 02/04/2012 20:44

I had electrolysis done for mine, on nose and cheeks and a whopper of one on my cheek

It was fucking painful on the nostrils, no anaesthetic gel used.

Afterwards small scabs formed and it was hell trying not to pick them ..not attractive at all and impossible to cover with makeup as it would just highlight the scabs.

Disappointing result , all the thread veins on my nose came back. I know i should have gone back for more but I didn't want to , am looking to have ipl instead I think.
No noticeable difference at all really but that was only one treatment.

FashionEaster · 02/04/2012 20:44

That is my fear, Adamschic - will re-evaluate after the 2nd go.

ggirltwin2pinot · 02/04/2012 20:45

adamschic-ah so ipl is useless as well...won't bother then, thanks

would love ot get my doozy huge one done on my cheek though. It's not really a thread vein though

FashionEaster · 02/04/2012 20:50

Veinwave is the way to go, but at the minute it really is costly. Might be worth a google though and see if there is somewhere near you offering it.

Eggrules · 02/04/2012 20:51

Yowzer - mine are far less noticeable than the example on Dr Newmans site.

Mine are like the intranasal example but are on the outside. That shows instant results; I must have seen something like this before.

adamschic and ggirltwin2pinot gutted for you. I am having IPL and I hope there are no scabs. Looking at my DDad's nose I may be in for the long haul.

I will see how the tester session goes and will look into Veinwave.

I have thread veins on my nose and a real mass of them on my right cheek. I bloody hate them.

I'm interested in Veinwave but there is nowhere local to get it done and I'm worried about the cost.

I've been using Veil makeup to cover them and I'm sick of putting it on now.

Eggrules, please update after your treatment. I'm really interested in how successful it is.

Eggrules · 03/04/2012 13:51

Thanks for the advice re: scabs - I have put my appointment off until 20th April.

Not by any Dr Newman's Clinics but will keep looking for Veinwave.

Happy to report back Diddy Smile

Hi all, i have tried this vein wave treatment from Dr Newman's clinic in Glasgow the treatment didn't work for me. I called to tell them my treatment had not worked and all my capillaries were still visible, they told me to go back and see the Dr who had performed the treatment and she would re treat them free of charge.

All i can say is she was very rude and not at all interested, when i wasn't paying for another £425 treatment. In fact i got no phone call asking if i was keeping my appointment which they had done promptly for my £225 consultation and subsequent £425 treatment.
I phoned their office again to complain but still no contact. Called again the following week.....still no contact.
Enough said......its a rip off!

maggie62 · 12/09/2012 15:57

oh i forgot to add.....she did not re treat them free of charge! £650 later no result! A very angry customer!

Torque1971 · 20/03/2015 21:41

Had mine done last week at Manchester clinic. consultation fee £200. 1st session £395. Going for a 2nd session in 6 weeks. Seems to be looking good so far.

MistyVee · 02/01/2019 15:15

If this didn't work and you were treated like this, then why didn't you leave them a google review? This info could help people

MistyVee · 02/01/2019 15:15

sorry that last message was for maggie62.

New to this :)

Ukelou · 02/01/2019 16:42

I had advanced electrolysis on a huge old thread vein on the side of my nose. £45 per treatment two treatments gone completely and not come back 2 years later. I had it done at a beauty salon by a very experienced lady very pleased. She also zapped some smallet veins very little scabbing a bit oainful but not too bad.

zippyswife · 02/01/2019 21:47

Where did you go @ukelou

Ukelou · 02/01/2019 23:33

Just a little beauty salon in taunton

Zoecam · 18/01/2019 22:23

Hi, can you tell me which beauty salon please? I live in Taunton and have a few little veins that make the sides of my nose look a bit pink! Thanks x
