Views on this dress pls...

This year I have got an uber-glam A list celeb event to go to, a wedding and my 40th so I'm looking for a dress that will do for all three. I've found [http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/183545. this] and need some opinions.

I'm 5'3", autumn colouring and a size 8/10.

If anyone thinks that they can find something else that will be good I'd love to see it. Budget as per the cost of this dress.

I think it's beautiful.
Classic from the front and lovely detail at the back.

It's a safe option to suit your three events.

i like it. it's simple enough that you can accessorise it differently for each event. although the purple might limit your choice of colour for accessories.

I like it but I'd want a bit more of a wow factor for the price, had a quick skim on the same site and this caught my eye. In a red mood today clearly, just spotted this one. Will keep looking, love looking for evening dresses!

Hmmm it is certainly classic and safe which is perfect for the wedding. As for the other two the celeb bash could potentially be a long dress event but I go to it in the capacity of DH's wife as a kind of work do.

WRT to my 40th there's another dimension that this dress doesn't cover. Basically I had to have a double mastectomy two years ago due to bastard breast cancer and last week I finally gad reconstructive surgery. For 2 years I've had no cleavage to show off and it would be nice (tho not essential) to be able to show off my new assets a bit!

As for accessories I thought I would have a gold clutch, a gold cuff and drop earrings and nude shoes. I was also considering a skinny gold belt, maybe.

FauxFox thanks for those. Love the Temperly dress (but it's not in my size) and the Kors dress is cool, but again too tiny for me! The Zac Posen dress is nice but a bit too shiny IYSWIM.

The Tory Birch is an interesting one. I like it but I'm not sure I love it, but then I could say the same about the original one I linked to...

Its a nice dress, but underwhelming. I would definitely want something a bit more special for that price.

I think it it's beautiful. Understated and classic, you'll be able to wear it for years.

I want to love it, for the price and because of your history, but I don't. I want you to get a real show-stopper of a dress, a real WOW but with class, natch.
