spring/summer dress help please!

i have been trying very hard to wear dresses over the winter, of the knitted variety mostly with opaque tights and long boots. but what on earth do i wear now that its warming up?! i have fat legs (hence the boots) and so i am at a loss as to what i should be buying as i do like the ease of putting on a dress and being 'done'. over the past couple of summers i have had maxi dresses - i have just tried and sent back the boden maxi in poppy - colour not quite right and made me look huge!

so any suggestions for alternatives please? SAHM so it has to be casual (eg for nursery run, toddler groups, park, shopping, general mooching about) - though if it could be smartened up that would be fab. oh and also not too expensive - prob could stretch to £60ish at a push if it was something that would last, though obviously cheaper would be better.

so has anyone seen anything that could fit the bill on their shopping / internet travels?

hopeful bump please???

i am also looking for (after seeing a lovely one today on a very glam mummy) a longline navy cardi with buttons up the sleeve. it looked so lovely over a white shirt, i think i need one - esp if i am destined for a summer in jeans and boots! thank you!

I found this one...

Next, M&S and Monsoon have a lot of reasonably priced maxi's in print, plain, woven and jersey.
Also I sometimes find that maxi dresses are too low cut for the day so I put 1 of these underneath for modesty's sake...I get loads more wear out of my dresses because of these handy thing!!

Depends on your shape, and I am no help about maxi dresses - I just don't find them very practical for mum-type duties. Possibly worth a look for shorter dresses are:

M and Co

Land's End

I also think Oasis and Warehouse dresses are lovely - though alas the fashion has become too short for me.
