*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/03/2012 08:40

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

LOL
I just used clarisonic (1st time) after 3rd SA peel last night - skin feels much softer than after peels...however, is it the clarisonic? or is it the peel?

missmakesstuff · 11/04/2012 01:19

I've done number three this everning with 15% SA and Lactic acid, for 3mins ish, pores immediately smaller, my chin is a bit worrying though, it is very dry, but is the worst place for blackheads and really deep whiteheads that have been there for years. Hoping it will make a difference, have slapped on the moisturiser and off to bed in a tic.

qwertina · 11/04/2012 08:49

I would love to try the peel as my skin is a mess, but am bf at the moment and will be in the forseeable future.
I know they say you are not supposed to use the peels if you are bf, but I am wondering whether the lower strenght would be ok, maybe if I left it on just for a bit?
Can it affect the milk? Would you risk it?

cocolepew · 11/04/2012 09:17

ALERT! Something has happened....

I have a brown sun mark on my face, it's about the size of a 20p and in the shape of a heart Hmm

Having no qualms about whether my skin will fall off, i did the 10% SA last night again.

This morning half my mark has gone Shock.

I have been peering in a 7x magnifyied mirror and it definitely has faded/gone.

My whiteheads don't seem so noticable, which I don't understand I presumed the SA would just make them easier to get out.

My chin is spotty though.

Pinkglow · 11/04/2012 09:36

did mandelic acid peel last night, also used my sample of Liz Earle polish so my skin was looking very clean and buffed last night.

I left it on for 5mins cos I is hard core and it felt itchy on my chin and around my nose but otherwise fine. Roll on next week

cocolepew · 11/04/2012 09:45

I've also decided not to fake tan any more.

Pale is the new,erm, brown.

outfortheCount · 11/04/2012 09:50

Ok, sans remortgaging house for extensive plastics, never going to look like you pretty lot. But hoping to attain a less grisly version of the usual Count.
A few questions, if anyone is still drifting around - can one apply oil (my favourite, Rosehip oil) after the peel, or would that result in cooking? Think skin may not be able to bear no moisturiser.
Also, has anyone been seduced by the glycolic night cream and/or hyaluronic acid and did they actually work?
Using an Arabic keyboard - please imagine last in Italics
Thanking you

Whitershadeofpale · 11/04/2012 10:02

HI count yes you can use your favorite oil afterwards. I have both the GA night cream and the hyaluronic acid. I've been using the GA cream since I started peeling so to be honest it's hard to tell if the results I'm seeing are down to the cream or the peels. Although it stings slightly at first it is lovely to use and makes my skin very soft in the morning.

The hyaluronic acid arrived yesterday so I've used it last night and this morning and I love it. As I said yesterday after my second peel I had quite a lot of peeling skin especially on my nose and chin and after one application of HA it was all but gone, my skin looks lovely and glowy today with just the remains on the chin spots I came up in after my last peel showing.

MissFoodie · 11/04/2012 10:04

missmake: sounds good, I have just got the SA 20%, but might try the lactic in a few months - lord, is this what happens on S&B? we migth have to start a peel withdrawal thread soon.....
coco: lol! I havent noticed anything major, pores look a bit smaller but I CAN STILL SEE THEM!!!!
outforthecount: yes, you should apply something after the peel, i put a water based serum on first (aloe vera gel or HA would work) and then an oil (rosehip or anything else would work), sometimes I put a night cream on, depends

WeesaD · 11/04/2012 10:19

Qwertina, I am BF, although DD is a year now, so only a couple of times a day.

Whitershadeofpale · 11/04/2012 11:03

They're still rubbish because I can't work out how to take apic of myself properly but I've uploaded 2 new pics today so you can see the effect the HA has had, I think much more glowy today.

outfortheCount · 11/04/2012 11:44

Thank you, all.
Have been thinking. Would it be interesting to create a 'sizzle check in' thread (or use this one in the longer term)?
It may be excruciating tedious for nonbelievers, but might be useful to assess how long the results last for. A while back, when there was more money in the Count's vault, I had a peel at a clinic (frustrating, can't remember which type). The results were stellar, but only for about a week.
Hoping (and believing) very much our experiences will prove otherwise.

qwertina · 11/04/2012 11:53

Thanks Weesa, I am still bf on demand as dd is only 5 months. Will probably leave it for now then, my skin is really crap though :(

Whitershadeofpale · 11/04/2012 11:55

How many courses do we think would be OK to do? It says in my notes not to use for more than a year.

MissFoodie · 11/04/2012 11:55

outforthecount, it's the same thing, am sure I will have that effect when I hit the 20% SA, just a case of working up to it - on another note I've been invited for GA peel in a clinic next month, will be interesting to compare!

ggirltwin2pinot · 11/04/2012 12:03

whitershadeofpale-nice pics you gorgeous young thing you BUT we need close ups of pores !

MissFoodie · 11/04/2012 12:09

HAHAHAHA

NotMostPeople · 11/04/2012 12:09

Miss Foodie it sounds like we are both doing the same thing, I have a new Clarisonic and am doing the SA although mine is with lactic acid, so perhaps that's why it came with neutraliser. I've found that my usually oily t zone is a lot dryer since I started using the Clarisonic, which arrived a few days ahead of the acid. My pores are improved, but there's still a way to go before I'm happy.

What oil would you recommend to put on after a peel? I was using a sample of the Clarins oil, but it's finished so I need a new one.

MissFoodie · 11/04/2012 12:16

well, depends on what you've previously used that you like and/or budget :)
you can either go for a single oil, eg rosehip, or jojoba, depends on what you like, or a prepared mix, melvita do some which are not pricey and are organic?

Whitershadeofpale · 11/04/2012 12:31

ggirl I will try. I might get someone else to take pics.

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 11/04/2012 14:08

OW bloody hell bloody hell that stings!

I managed 2 minutes before I slapped the neutraliser on and sounded like a steak on a sizzler platter.

I look no different, but my skin feels very tight, like when I used that 10 o 6 crap when I was 13.

I don't have any spots, blackheads or large pores. V dry and sensitive skin though. Want to put some cream on to sooth but don't have anything suitable other than SPF 50 cream.

cocolepew · 11/04/2012 14:30

My SA doesn't sting or tingle at all. I'm going to order the GA. I want to sizzle like all the cool girls Sad

cocolepew · 11/04/2012 14:31

I put my moistuiser on straight after doing the SA last night.

I scared myself by looking in the mirror when I got up to pee.

I looked like a waxwork Shock

MissFoodie · 11/04/2012 14:45

LOL Coco

cybbo · 11/04/2012 18:23

I still think I need a lil jab o'Botox on my DEEEEP crevice between eyes
