I have a couple of do's coming up (christening and 40th lunch party) I like this dress so any thoughts? I'm 5'2, 45 and size 12. Perhaps with navy blazer?

Not sure tbh. If you are at all norky it could be v clingy and unflattering across the chest, I suspect. Also, it looks like the fabric might be quite 'sweaty' especially if it gets warmer again. I think you could get something nicer for the price tbh.

Bohica · 19/03/2012 21:48

Really sorry but I think it looks unflatterning and boring you did ask

You could get something much nicer for that price.

SarkyWench · 20/03/2012 09:12

You'd have to try it on.
Hard to tell from the pic.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 20/03/2012 10:14

Well, I'm going to go against the rest of the thread. I like the dress. I tried it on last month, and liked it, but didn't like it enough to buy at full price. Now it's in the sale...

Good points for me - fits well, slip means it doesnt cling. Flattering.

Bad points- I like pale colours, and wear far too much grey, I like this but did have a little voice in my ear saying "isn't it a bit, well, grey?". It is quite a heavy material and I wondered, as a spring dress if it would be a bit sweaty.

But, this in might for the sale price... Race you for the 12..

Don't really like it, the colour/fabric look quite dull, and it would definitely be unflattering on me, I think.

Agree about going to try it on though, you never know it might look better in real life than in the pic, and it depends on your figure.

happyhorse · 20/03/2012 10:26

It's ok but I think it could look a bit boring/work like with a navy blazer. There are a lot of nicer coloured blazers in the shops at the moment though. My other thought is that if you're 5' 2" it could end up being a bit of a frumpy length on you.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 20/03/2012 10:31

Hmmm. Didn't see the 5'2". Still think could be good, with heels - the skirt flares just a little so it falls nicely. I'm 5'8" though and it was a modest knee length on me though (but I do have an unusually long body and stumpy legs)

steben · 20/03/2012 12:19

Ilike it but your height might be an issue....shame it is not 3/4 length sleeve i think as that would make it more suitable for spring

applecrumbleandcream · 20/03/2012 12:38

Sorry, I agree with Bohica. Not a very flattering shade of grey and true about the fabric could make you feel sweaty (now the weather's warming up), especially if you are thinking of wearing a blazer over it!
