See-through dress!

I have just bought this dress for a summer wedding and it is lovely, really very flattering, beautiful print. The only issue is that it's unlined and the skirt is completely see-through. Shock

What can I do about it? Petticoat?! There's someone who does clothes alterations locally, could a lining be put in without ruining the lines of the dress?

Any suggestions for a jacket/shrug type thing to go with it would be very welcome also. I'll be wearing nude court shoes (non-negotiable!).

A full dress slip in flesh colour would be the answer (m&s have loads)

Yep, you want an M&S slip - they have half and full slips in all different lengths. And they make the dress fall really nicely

Thank you very much, 'slip' is the word I was looking for, not petticoat. Blush Now I know what I'm looking for there's loads of options.

Thats a nice dress - you wouldnt know it was see through from the picture. I am looking for something for a May wedding so might have a try of that one. How is the size of it? I'm usually a 8 or 10 but could buy both sizes I guess and see which fits. Good thinking about nude courts and will wait to see what folk say about jackets / shrugs.

I find Great Plains come up quite generous - their 10 is a 27.5" waist where I'm sure 27" is the norm, not a great deal in it but definitely go smaller if you're unsure. I'm a 'hefty' 10 from sport and it fits well, if you're a 'skinny' 10 I'd go smaller.

It comes up a lot longer than it appears on the model, I am 5ft 8" and it's only fractionally above the knee. Ever such a flattering shape though, especially the neck line.

Nice dress.

They do give you a length measurement which is nice, I could do with also a bit of "model is 5'10 and wears a size 8".

Did you buy it online or in a shop somewhere? Would prefer to go into a shop but it wasnt on the House of Fraser website or John Lewis so not sure where else I would find it?

Bought online, returns are easy, they supply a freepost label. :)

Nice dress. Can I ask what are you wearing on your arms?
