Another frustrating attempt at buying children's shoes. Anyone know what a Clarks 9G is in Start-rite?

Really fed up with buying shoes for children with high instep, wide feet, narrow ankles who cannot wear Mary Janes. Just about all the shoes in Clarks and Start-rite are MJ style and we need T bar. John Lewis do one T bar in black. My 5 yo does not want black shoes for the summer.

Measured on a Clarks foot-gauge at 9 G. Current shoes are Start-rite 9 G. Which sizing is bigger?

Start rite shoes are bigger, if I recall right. I think a 9G in Clarks is an 8.5G in Start rite. So your Start-rite shoes are a bit bigger.
