oh c**p
i've just stood on the scales and it was not pretty.
I have a wedding in 7 weeks and i need to lose the extra weight. When dieting I do try to eat low cal food and keep well below 2000 cals per day. I also go the gym 3 / 4 times a week. So i should be able to lose it quickly, shouldn't i?
But i'm not and now require drastic measures.

What would you suggest? TIA

I swear by myfitnesspal. I limit my calories to 1200 per day.
Try to swap foods that are white to those that are brown, eat more greens and stay away from sugars
Drink plenty of water and do more exercises that force you to sprint for short bursts.
:) good luck!

Do you have an iPhone? if so myfitnesspal will be your friend. It's a calorie/exercise tracker and its the only thing I have ever found to work for me.

you could always join us on the low carb thread...

Personally I love Weight Watchers it worked wonders for me - I lost over 5 stone and have kept it off. It's not a crash diet, its flexible and if you start this week and follow the program you definitely could have 1 stone lost before the wedding.

Best of luck with the weight loss.

Jax I shall be over there later today Smile

I've already joined (and paid) a weight loss company where i can track my calorie intake but i've not been using it - perhaps this is the motivation i need to get back online.

A number of friends have had success with WW but i can't afford to join that one too. Is there any way to use it without subscribing?

Wait for a WeightWatchers join & first meeting free offer, then go and get all the books and stuff that explain the diet (and realistically, a calculator/shopping guide) and you're all set.

Although I have to say that, for me, the reason WW works is the meeting support and the knowledge that someone is going to weigh you each week - so doing it like that wouldn't work for me. It is a very effective diet though, and flexible too.

Just cut out all carbs and booze. Painful but I have lost a lot of weight on Dukan recently, quite extreme though.but if you just cut out carbs you will be amazed and it's quick.

latrucha · 18/03/2012 13:41

I've just signed up with My Fitness Pal. I do a fair amount of exercise but my weight is not shifting.

drywhite - what do you eat for breakfast, if you don;t mind my asking. Breakfast with no carbs really stumps me.

OhCobblers · 18/03/2012 14:34

Could someone please give me a basic idea of how My Fitness Pal works?
I've never downloaded an App in my life Grin

thanks!

You put in your height and weight in and how much you want to lose. It only let's you lose 2lb a week but I have lost a bit more than that some weeks. It gives you the amount you can eat and lose 2lb a week even if you sit on your back side all day, 1200 in my case. You log everything you eat (most items are in there, but check they are correct, there is also a barcode scanner). However you also log everything you do exercise wise, even walking and cleaning and you can then eat more if you like, I find 1200 cals hard. Many a time I have walked 2 miles home from the station so that I have enough cals for dinner. It also gives you your weekly average so you can negate the effects of the odd dodgy day.

Callanetics, come join us:-)

Breakfast = eggs, omelette, cottage cheese, yogurt with sweetener (and cinnamon), low fat ham, cooked chicken (proteins really keep you full for longer)

latrucha · 19/03/2012 09:28

Thanks drywhite.

I'm giving up porridge for breakfast, that's for sure. It's rubbish in terms of calories and carbs (Fitness Pal categories). And it doesn't fill me up. I thought it was heathy! Gah...

I seem to eat a lot of eggs. How many can you eat a week before turning into one, I wonder?

drywhiteplease · 19/03/2012 19:41

I eat one a day...am still human,just about Grin

latrucha · 19/03/2012 20:57

I eat two. I pecked the carpet Blush
