Last two holidays I went on, I was pregnant, so this holiday is the first that I'm not of whale-like proportions , and I have nothing to wear. I'll need to go on a mammoth shopping trip.

What are the basics that you can't do without on holiday?

swim wear
cover up -- tunic or little dresses
maxi dresses for the evening
flip flops
sunglasses
beach bag
ipod or other device for music by pool or beach
comfortable pair of shoes to go sightseeing
summer trouser -- I wear city shorts/ some wear capris
white jeans
variety of tops
cardigan
scarf for cold plane

I'm sure there is more

last holiday I found myself wearing a little sun dress the most; followed by a tunic over my swimsuit.

Oh, exciting.

This is a very good blog post from WIT re holiday wardrobe.

MrsChemist · 17/03/2012 10:33

Thanks, that blog is great.

I'm going on a sort of countryside relaxing holiday to Tuscany, with a few day trips to Florence and other places.

I do own a maxi dress, but I'm vair short (I had to get an age 13 one, because grown up ones were too long), so had to admit to myself that it's not a good look for me.

A different bikini for each day.

Kaftans.

Lots of summery shoes.

Cotton summer dresses.

Maxi dresses.

A different bikini for every day? [shock!] Really???? So if you're going on a 2 week holiday you need 14 bikinis??!! Surely they rinse out easily & dry quickly in the sun? Or am I missing something here?

ENormaSnob · 17/03/2012 11:10

I take at least 14 bikinis for a 2 week holiday.

I just love them Blush

I have about 5 or 6 cover ups, have some lovely throw on dresses from baby Ceylon. White linen trousers with dressy tops.i also find play suits, you know the strapless short suits quite useful to throw on. I always take some costume jewellery to Brighten up outfits.im after an anya hind arch white beach bag this year.

Wow, enorma...that's an impressive collection! Now every time Im at the airport & see someone struggling with a huge suitcase I'll be wondering if it's you with your 14 bikinis!! Grin

ENormaSnob · 17/03/2012 14:58

I had over 30 at last count.

That was after I got rid of some of the older ones!

You will find me at the check in at Manchester, frantically stuffing bikinis and sandals into dh's suitcase Blush

iWILLdothis · 17/03/2012 16:21

I'll look out for you then, enorma!

Sorry, MrsC....I haven't been very helpful on your thread Blush. I am a rubbish holiday packer.
