HoC - Deep Brown Summer - any one else?

I had my colours done at HoC and it seemed that I was a bit of a struggle to place. The lady was lovely but struggled to work out whether I was the cool end of the warm shades or the warm end of the cool shades! She said I was so borderline....

I was on my own and after initially saying it would take only a couple of hours, I was in with her for 5 hours! She really went to town on me, but I have this very slight niggly doubt that "did she get it right?" Eventually she said I was the warm end of cool, so a Summer but the warmer end!

So I suit colours like madder rose, the blush pinks, mushrooms, etc. I have some of those colours anyway, I hope she is right.

Is there anyone else out there who is a deep brown summer? She said it was fairly rare, I just worry that it may not be right. I think I look ok in those colours - I suppose I am just a little disappointed that it was not the complete revelation that I thought it would be. Mainly because it was such a struggle and I couldn't really see any of the fabulous-ness myself!

I'm not a summer, but I was also v hard to analyse, so I sympathise! I am an autumn verging on a spring (I am quite 'high contrast' for an autumn). I console myself that it's harder for me to get it wrong - I can push my colours a fraction brighter and clearer than my wallet would suggest.

One of the biggest upsides of the analysis is having a wardrobe where everything matches and looks good on you, and if you stick to your colours you'll definitely have that! I would try wearing/buying a couple of scarves and tops in your wow colours and your confidence will grow as people begin to notice how good you look.

This happened to me with HoC , I was in a group session and she did me last.

Actually quite embarrassing cos noone could make a decision.

I ended up a brown summer as well , can't remember about the deep bit tho , it was yrs ago.

Since then about 6 yrs ago I had another consultation done by the other company Colour me Summat?? Can't for the life of me remember what season I am but I wsa recommended bluey shades so the cooler side of things I think.

Confused ??? Me too. Basically I go for blue/grey/teal/sea greeny shades a lot cos I know they suit me. Purple is also good.

Sorry not a lot of help am I .

HoC do generally seem to get it right OP so try not to keep puzzling on it and try just living as a summer for a while and it should start to click. i know a couple of deep summers and one soft brown summer but no deep brown ones - i guess you must be close to autumn. you might also find it useful to find where you are in sci-art and similar systems as there's so much good advice online - eg check out the 12 blueprint lot but switch your woo filter on first: 12blueprints.com/, this one www.truth-is-beauty.com/summer.html and blog.prettyyourworld.com/blog/the-12-seasons-soft-summer/

i'm a spring and initially couldn't really 'see it' but now i can totally see the difference my wow colours make - my eyes go a colour they've never previously been when i wear things like terracotta and kerry green which i ran a mile from previously. my non-wow colours just have a neutral effect iykwim so i try to keep my good colours near my face or counteract my less-good ones with a splash (scarf, lipstick, jewels etc) of my best ones.

also, just wearing a top in springy colours didn't really work the magic...it took me changing everything - hair (gone back to my natural colour - only better!), make-up (now wearing proper bright lipstick for the first time ever) and really focussing on making sure i'm wearing three colours (which is the recommendation for springs) in my clothes and accessories.

hope you get the twinkle soon Smile

Hi Wickedfairy. Were you done with Trudy Cooper? Just asking because when I took my mum in December she told us about a lady who was a brown summer and she said they went "round and round in circles for ages trying to place her" so it rang a bell, wondered if it was you.

I suggest you start from the top down, engage a little "blind faith" and just stick to the rules and be patient while you get your "eye in".

It really does work.

Hi Tatty, No I was done by a lady called Fyona and only last week.

I have been buying some new tops in my colours, so hopefully I will start looking a bit better!! Next had a few nice tops in blush colours and got some stuff from the indigo range in marks, which had a corally colour I would previously have run a mile from! It looks quite nice on me - I just have to get used to wearing some of the colours!
