Cheap and good mascara recommendations anyone?

They seem to vary a lot in price. £1.99 to £15, the ones I'm looking at. I'm no expert at makeup but why the huge difference? Anyway, I'm after a preferably waterproof mascara that gives thicker lashes. Does anyone have a particular favourite that is budget friendly please?

I like the Boots no 7 range. About mid way in your price range. Even better if you have a £5 off voucher when you spend x amount in Boots.

I have a few of them, and find their waterproof ones great. Don't budge during the day but not a nightmare to remove at the end of the day.

I've been through every waterproof on the market I reckon.

Two weeks ago I had a breakthrough in my quest.

£1.99 Boots Natural Collection Waterproof. No clumpy bits, glides on, stays put all day at work and during my evening running session.

I'm not buying anything but this from now on.

Boots ones were awful on me, just didn't have much impact.

My friend recommended the Maybelline, old pink and green one so I will try that next as her lashes looked great

Maybe line pink and green

boogiewoogie · 12/03/2012 23:18

Yes, I did used to use Maybelline a long time ago but I fancy a change. I'll try the Natural Collection waterproof one if it's not all sold out already. Thanks everyone!

The Maybelline pink and green one is really good, I agree; I keep going back to it. But it most definitely is not waterproof!

I don't like the lengthening and volumising mascaras - they always look clumpy and straggly to me. I just prefer to do two coats of the ordinary ones.

I like the no7 extreme length waterproof for daytime. I have a Benefit one for nights out though as the no7 can be a bit too natural looking.

I used the natural collection one a couple of years ago, amazing for only £1.99

I have loreal telescopic lengths which I find brilliant.

Think they do a waterproof one but haven't tried it.

I will spare no expense for a good mascara and normally use high end ones yet more than happy with Avon Supershock, they do a waterproof one. Last month I got this and their supershock gel eyeliner (as good as urban decay pencils) for a fiver! I bought 3 as gifts and recommend to everyone
