Mulberry Anthony, yes or no?

I need would like a black messenger bag with matching purse, the small Anthony + purse is £545.

Tbh, it isn't a 'wow' bag, is it? Tho I'm thinking along the lines of a classic, practical bag with longevity.

Would you, should I? It would be a massive treat. Is it worth it or shud I spend £500 on clothes?

Ta everso.

Anthony is a bit boring, i'd spend £250 on a bag and £250 on clothes!! :)

warmandwooly · 11/03/2012 15:38

You could put the money towards a more substantial mulberry bag tbh. Do you live anywhere near York, Bicester and other mulberry outlets (Google more locations) as you might be able to get a Anthony cheaper as well as other bags, purses and mulberry clothes.

Clarabumps · 11/03/2012 15:39

I think you should..in 6 months time £500 of clothes will probably be done or look tired. Whereas a lovely bag and purse with have aged ever so slightly ad you shall be more in love with them than you were before.

I stopped buying bags that weren't leather about 4 years ago and I must admit all the bags I have now are investment purchases that I love wearing. I don't have as many but I always feel "dressed" even when in jeans and a tshirt.

I also think a lot more about if I really need it as its an investment purchase. I think you should go for it! I'm off to look at the mulberry website now!

Tmesis · 11/03/2012 15:41

For a moment I thought this was in Baby Names...

warmandwooly · 11/03/2012 15:59

I would ring up an outlet for sure to check out the prices and outlet specials.

I would second what a previous poster has said about bags. T

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 11/03/2012 16:02

I have the large Anthony bag, I love it.

It's understated but the leather is absolutely gorgeous and I love using it.

I didn't pay full price though, they do come up in them sales sometimes, which is how I got mine.

shinecrazydiamond · 11/03/2012 16:10

I have this exact bag - I have the larger one in black and the smaller one in tan.

You are right- it has no 'wow' factor, it's very 'plain.' This, however, was the selling point for me..Although I sometimes like a bit of bling, I don't when it comes to a handbag.

They are so well made and smell delicious. Hard wearing, look good and last forever. Do it!

MrsBovary · 11/03/2012 16:34

Yes, it's nice and practical. Though I'm not very keen on the canvas straps, personally. I have two similar design and they really are good value for money. Last forever, as somebody has said.
Although I think I'd be tempted to buy one of the mini Bayswater satchels instead.

permaquandry · 11/03/2012 18:22

Thx for all the replies. I am v tempted, tho I've never seen such a bag in the sales or in an outlet, has anybody actually seen one discounted?

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 11/03/2012 19:17

I think Mulberry had them in the sale at Christmas, and I got mine in the Mulberry sale in the summer a few years ago.

Have to be quick for the sales thoughSmile

I love my bag. I've a bit of a handbag addiction passion going on so I've bought other nice bags since but I always come back to my Anthony.

shinecrazydiamond · 11/03/2012 19:55

But bear in mind - they are no evening bag or special occasion bag!

warmandwooly · 12/03/2012 08:40

Just ring up the outlets to find out about an anthony or cross body bag. I am sure I have seen them in the outlets. There may even be special purchase bags just made for the outlets and cheaper than normal

I'm not sure it can be genuine actually. £147.00 for a bayswater bag?

shinecrazydiamond · 12/03/2012 11:40

That is not a genuine site. It has got 'fake' written all over it Smile

MrsBovary · 12/03/2012 12:07

Hi OP - I got my Antony from York, a lovely grey one with silver lock. Just called up and they posted it to me for £7. I LOVE it!

AmberNectarine · 12/03/2012 14:01

Yes they actually make certain colours for the outlets for just under £200. Well worth a look!

Lorelilee · 12/03/2012 16:19

ooops, yes, mine was £195.

myron · 12/03/2012 16:40

Concession at Heathrow is cheaper (duty free). Wait until Selfridges have one of its pre Christmas 20% off weekend sales. That's how I bought a Mitzy Messenger a few years ago.
