Liz Earle Stuff

I bought some Liz Earle stuff: cleanse and polish, tonic stuff and moisturiser for combination/oily skin. I'm now on day three of using it, but this morning, my skin felt so oily, I gave it a miss. Should I perservere or do you think I need to try something else?

I like the way it makes my skin feel when it's done, but I am even more conscious of the oily parts of my face now. Wondered if this was normal and I needed to carry on for a while to really start to see the benefit.

Products are very hit and miss. If you think it's making it oilier and you don't like it then give it a miss.

Personally I think it's better to have oily skin as you age slower.

But also I noticed that products for oily skin often strip the skin of essential oils so your skin goes into overdrive to produce more. Could that be it?

whattodoo · 09/03/2012 20:00

I've got comb/oily skin and have been a Liz earle fan for years.
But I've had a similar iron with the moisturiser and use clinique moisture surge lotion instead - its much lighter.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2012 20:13

I used c&p for ages now I have the No7 one and it seems better for my oily skin.

hiviolet · 09/03/2012 20:16

I think C&P is an amazing product and I love using it, but my oily skin doesn't. Always breaks me out. I guess it's just too rich for me and I'll always need a foaming type cleanser. I find Skin Repair equally rich and use it mainly as a night cream.

It's such a minefield though isn't it?!

I am fairly new to all this cleansing malarky but my face starts to feel really yucky after an hour or so. I do quite like it though but because I'm not experienced in this kind of thing, I wasn't sure if I was doing more harm than good by carrying on. Like I said, it's only been 3 days (and I missed one attempt!)

Is it better to invest in the dearer products or should I stick with Simple? Grin

Perhaps you would be better with Skin Repair Light?

This is what I bought here and I chose the combination/oily stuff, which looks like the light stuff.

I think it's the cleanse and polish stuff tbh. My skin feel lurvely after I've used it though Sad

I think the light one is the one I went with. It's the lightest one, and is loads better for my oily t-zone. Nice and matt without drying it out at all. I love Liz Earle stuff

mrspnut · 09/03/2012 20:35

Your skin has to get worse before it gets better. I'd persevere for a month before making a decision.
My skin is really oily, with dry scaly patches and spots and liz Earle cleanse and polish really works for me.

chardom · 09/03/2012 20:39

This kit looks like it has the normal/combination and also dry/sensitive moisturiser in. I would normally use these at night as an extra boost. This is the light version uk.lizearle.com/cleanse-tone-moisturise/skin-repair-light-moisturiser-combination-oily.html
I would check your moisturiser tubes as they all look quite similar.

LucyLastik · 09/03/2012 20:41

OK, I thought it was just me! I've tried various cleansers/toners etc over the years and always give up after a week or so because my skin feels yucky. I think I will keep going with it, I ended up spending £43 on various LE bits and pieces so its a bit much to just stop using it on the strength of 3 days!

Now, eyes. My eyes have biiiiig black circles under them and are quite puffy. I've upped the water I drink, but I don't really do make up (foundation, anyway) unless I'm going out. What can I do about the eyes?

Thanks all, you're fab! Grin

I love cleanse and polish (and the brightening treatment) - but really dislike all the moisturisers , even the lightest one seems to just 'sit' on my skin .

LucyLastik · 09/03/2012 20:43

Do you use anything different then Stilla?

Have just checked the bottle and it is def the light version.

What do you think to this and this then? Would they be beneficial or a waste of money?

chardom · 09/03/2012 20:49

I like LE eyebright lotion as it helps with puffiness. I use it every morning and night.

Stilla · 09/03/2012 20:54

Yes - I use philosophy

Try the c&p with your previous moisturiser - I know a few people who don't get on with skin repair .

mrspnut · 09/03/2012 21:09

I don't use the skin repair, i just use the cleanse and polish. I use a Clinique anti redness moisturiser instead.

berkotopsy · 10/03/2012 16:16

Yep, I agree. Love the c&p and the toner, but have never got on with any of the LE moisturisers. I use Estee Lauder Daywear instead which is lovely.

LucyLastik · 10/03/2012 16:28

ah so it seems it might be a moisturising problem then?

I was using Olay (the normal stuff) but even then wasn't religious with it. As it is, I have a sore on my nose where I have been attempting blackhead extraction Blush so am avoiding using anything there at the moment so as not to irritate it.

I don't want to spend a fortune on sample bottles of stuff though if it isn't going to work. Don't really know what to do next!
